Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Kidco F700 Baby Food Grinder

Customer Review: Makes feeding baby easy
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this food mill for about a month, and so far I really like it. It's relatively easy to use, and cleans up quickly in the dishwasher. I was worried that it would only grind up soft foods, but that hasn't been a problem. I've ground up pasta, rice, meat, veggies, and yesterday I ground up a gyros, and the food mill worked great.

One thing I don't like is the amount you grind up is relatively small, and my son (despite being a finicky eater) can eat two or three times as much as the food mill contains. Another thing I don't like is that it can get messy, especially when I'm trying to add more food to the mill. My aunt told me she took it with her to restaurants, but I definitely wouldn't want to use this at a fancy restaurant.

This also isn't appropriate if you want to make large batches of food; I would stick with the blender for that. But if you just want baby to be able to eat dinner with the rest of the family, then this is a great buy.

Customer Review: Proper use of mill
Summary: 5 Stars

Some of the prior posts are disturbing. This mill was never intended to prepare large quantities of food. I began using this product 25 years ago with my own kids and I now I buy them for by grandchildren.

I started at home with baby's 'first' foods i.e. a fresh banana ground through the mill then mixed with natural plain yogurt. Other fruits worked well too. I used it mostly for taking it to restaurants. The babies were able to eat everytning that we ate. I NEVER fed them crackers and other junk offered by well meaning (albeit mis-informed)waitresses.

I am disturbed that the quality of the product has declined. Originally, the blade and the strainer were solid stainless steel (it was a different brand too). Do we really have to always compromise our health and make it cheaper?

Customer Review: I used the model F700 & LOVE it!
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading some reviews on this product, I had to write my own! LOL.
I do not know what plastic parts the previous reviewer was refering to...mine is all metal in the gears. The box even states the blades are made of medical grade stainless steel...& as far as anything rubbing off into the food, I am amazed...I did not have that happen. I had no problems grinding meats/veggies at all. I did use this for both my kids when they were first trying out foods. Not a long period of time, but it gave me peace of mind knowing they were getting introduced into foods that taste the same as the families meals & they were not going to choke on it! ANYWAY, just wanted to share my experience. I used it for both my kiddos...was a minor investment! (esp since I sold it used for almost what I paid for it new...speaks for itself, doesn't it?) ;-)

Customer Review: Easier and healthier then buying premade baby food from the store
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are serious about not feeding your child second rate food from bottles and cans, then you need to get this little Baby Food Grinder. If you have peas in your freezer, then you have dinner for your baby. When my baby got ready for more varied foods, I would make our usual stew (or whatever) for the family, and put some of it in the mill for the baby before I added salt or spices for the rest of the family. The mill doesn't oxidize the food like a blender would do. It is simple and easy to use. You can take it anywhere and just rinse it out when you are done. There is no reason to EVER use premade baby food when it is so quick and easy to use this mill. People have told me it takes too much time to make baby food with a mill. Honestly I don't understand that kind of thinking. The mill is easier, quicker, and so much healthier.

Customer Review: Happy Baby Food Grinder Redux
Summary: 5 Stars

Thirty years ago I got this grinder to introduce my children to solid food. It was fantastic! A little of what we were eating ourselves through the grinder, maybe mixed with a little milk to make it softer, and the baby had something new to eat. I googled the name Happy Baby Food Grinder so I could buy it for my first grandchild expected very soon. I hope it lives up to my experience because I used it through two children despite its being made mainly of plastic. I can't begin to estimate how much I saved by not buying baby foods. To quote an old commercial, "Try it. You'll like it."
