Customer Review: Very nice PORTABLE microwave...
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The greatest features of iWavecube IW600SIL 600-Watt Personal Desktop Microwave Oven, Silver, the world's smallest microwave, are its portability and it works!!! Can't get much better than that.

Be sure to read through the instruction manual. You'll find lots of important information. For handy reference, keep the manual close by the microwave.

I just baked a small potato, 3" x 2 1/2", on a 9 1/8" paper plate. Yes, a 9 1/8" paper plate fits into this microwave. It took about 5 - 5 1/2 minutes. I've heated coffee, a bowl of chili, etc. & encountered no problems. Because this microwave doesn't have a turntable, you'll find some hot spots. A hot spot will cook the food quicker in that area. My frozen fajita had some burned areas (from the hot spots) & was over cooked. I suggest that you open the door and carefully turn the item you're cooking halfway through the cooking process. That's how we handled hot spots before turntables were added to microwaves. Stir liquids before placing the container into the oven, again halfway through the cooking time. Let it stand in the oven a short time about 30 seconds, & stir again before removing. Let all items stand in the oven for a short time before removing. Microwaved items can be very hot, be cautious when reaching in to turn, stir or remove the item. I suggest using a potholder or paper towel, etc. to shield your hands from the heat.

I have seen heated water explode when stirred after being microwaved. It can happen after using any microwave. The manual uses all caps to explain this. For safety's sake, I'm repeating the warning: "Liquids,.....are able to be overheated beyond the boiling point without appearing to be boiling. Visible bubbling or boiling when the container is removed from the microwave oven is not always present. THIS COULD RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUIDS SUDDENLY BOILING OVER WHEN THE CONTAINER IS DISTURBED OR A SPOON OR OTHER UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID." You can let the liquid sit in the microwave for about 30 sec. before removing from the oven then insert a utensil or add a tea bag, sugar, instant coffee, etc. or you could put a toothpick or wooden stirrer in the liquid while heating. Either of these ideas should prevent the superheated liquid from bubbling over or exploding. Once upon a time, I microwaved water in a glass measuring cup, & the water literally exploded when I put my spoon into it.

Because of its small size, this microwave will heat up quickly and retain that heat for a few minutes. As another poster mentioned, there is a recommended 5 minute wait time between uses. I suspect it's because of the heat that's generated from cooking in such a small space. If you need to wait longer than 5 minutes for the unit to work, I suggest cooling it down with a small fan if you have one available. I haven't tried this but think it would work. I'd aim the fan into the open microwave to try cooling it down faster.

As with all microwaves, there's a small learning curve when using a new one. Each one cooks a little differently. My big microwave is 1225 watts, so when using the 600-Watt, iWavecube, I double the amount of time to heat most of my foods. It's best to err on the minimum cooking time and add more seconds if necessary than to overcook.

This is a handy microwave with a one year warranty on the entire iWavecube & a limited 4 year magnetron warranty.
