Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of iSi 10-Pack Soda Chargers, Gold

Customer Review: good if pricey
Summary: 4 Stars

These seem to work better than the non isi ones - less gas escaping when using. Little pricey in my opinion.

Customer Review: Not Economical, Just Eco-friendly

It clearly states in the description that two cartridges should be used for a liter of soda. That makes the liter of soda cost $2.40 (if you get free shipping.) Do not compare this cost to that of Perrier or San Pellegrino because those waters have finer bubbles, akin to Champagne, some of which (Gerolsteiner) are naturally occurring. This is regular soda, with large bubbles. I buy a 12 pack of soda in cans for $3, which gives me 4.5 liters. The upside to the cartridges is having fresh soda on demand, with less packaging, shipping space, and you can recycle the steel cartridges. However, it would be worth it to look for these in bulk.

Customer Review: Expensive (with shipping) and Not Returnable
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased these soda chargers for a Liss Soda Siphon, also purchased through Amazon. The siphon turned out to be defective; unable to hold pressure for 10 minutes much less overnight which was the latency period recommended by the manufacturer. This despite being a simple device with a straightforward instruction set which was followed to the letter. Bottom line: I returned the Siphon but Amazon states that because of the "hazardous" nature of the chargers they are unable to accept returns. That's odd and decidedly inconsistent since Amazon warehouses these and then shipped them to me with no apparent problem. Amazon...What gives?

Chargers worked but the end product was not very bubbly. I am not sure weather it is the charger or the proceedure. The instructions did not give a help section.

Customer Review: HORRIBLE SODA MAKER!
Summary: 1 Stars

iSi 1-Quart Soda Siphon SLL, Brushed Aluminum
The chargers and the soda maker were the worst things ever. Totaling over $70 to buy not including shipping and tax, I would have been better off drinking toilet water. I returned the soda maker, cost me $20 to ship and since it was opened and used (how the heck else would I know it barely works and makes horrible soda?) I'm expecting Target to fight me on getting a refund. I couldn't return the chargers bc they were considered "hazardous". Funny you didn't consider them hazardous when you shipped them to me and charged me $10 for 10 of them that make 10 8oz glasses of crappy water....

I had wanted to make soda water at home to avoid recycling millions of Arrowhead Sparkling water bottles but since it's twice as expensive for worse soda, I'm going with the "deplete our resources and fill the landfill" option. Hey, I tried.

My dad had a soda maker when we were kids (back in the 70's) and it was GREAT---you could control the carbonation and it tasted like real soda water. This wasn't even close. The instructions literally tell you to SHAKE THE BOTTLE to make the soda. Yeah, guess what happens when you shake a bottle of soda and then try to dispense it?

Please warn others not to waste their money. I am still hoping I get mine back but I doubt I will....
