Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Zevro Dual Dry Food Dispenser, Black/Chrome

Customer Review: not flawless, but fun and useful
Summary: 4 Stars

This depenser works with most cereals we have tried in it, except shredded wheat. It crumbles some cereals a bit, but hasn't pulvarised any yet (teaching everyone to always turn the handle to the right helps minimize the grinder effect) It also spits some cereals around so I have been training my three, six, and eight year olds to hold their left hand like a shield to direct any errant cereal into the bowl as they turn the handle with their right hand. They have all got the hang of it and love using it. We often had two or more cereal boxes open at once and the kids are much better at using the dispenser than they ever were at rolling the cereal packet closed to keep cereal fresh. If you have a crew to get ready by eight in the morning like I do, any little gizmo that brings fun and enthusiasm to the morning routine is worth it. I wouldn't say its worth much more than I spent on it, but it works fine, keeps the cereal fresh, and makes us happy.

Customer Review: Good, but make sure you check for cracks
Summary: 4 Stars

I love cereal and I thought this was a cooler way to store it than using Rubbermaid or Tupperware containers. I ordered it on a Friday and received it on a Monday, and that's with Super Saver Shipping. That alone was pretty great. The only issue I had is that one of the storage reservoirs came cracked in the front and the back. Not only did that look bad, but it also indicated to me that I might have a flimsy product. Amazon did a good job of replacing it and the new one that arrived came quickly.

I like the looks of it and it seems sturdy enough that I would not advise you to spend the extra $30 on the stainless steel version. The only reason I could see for purchasing it is if you absolutely must have stainless steel due to other accessories in your kitchen. The product has held up well so far and I am confident that I can recommend the Zevro dispenser.

Customer Review: It looks heavier in the pictures but it works great
Summary: 4 Stars

When I ordered this item I had imagined that it would be sturdy, like a Kitchen-Aide appliance. Well, it is not. It is quite lightweight but, as others have said, it works well on the denser cereals and crackers. Actually, I have 2 of them, one for my Kashi Go Lean (works well with the plain Go Lean but the Kashi Clusters get stuck on the way out); another holds our kids Honey Nut Cheerios perfectly. A third holds Gold Fish Crackers quite nicely and that last was supposed to be for my husband's Chex- which get smashed on the way out. He's always the difficult one- and since he likes plain Cheerios just as well, I have two Cheerios dispensers going. I wish somebody liked Fruit Loops- I bet it would look cute and colorful in there.... Never mind....

Customer Review: Great for kids!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this so my 9 and 4 year olds could easily get their own cereal in the morning, and also have easy access to a healthy snack later in the day. This is a great tool for helping kids do it themselves. Some of the Honeycombs get a little crushed, but I've found that turning the handle gently back and forth a little bit gets them out without crushing them. Reese's Puffs and Cheerios also came out without any crushing. You have to put the caps on the bottom when not getting the cereal out in order to keep the cereal fresh. Maybe this was in the directions, but I missed it and learned the hard way. But the kids figured out the caps easily and it's not a big deal for them.

Customer Review: Good for the price.
Summary: 4 Stars

This product makes eating cereal easier and a little cooler. It seals cereal well. I haven't had stale cereal with this unit. It does have one major problem though. The plugs that seal the bottom where the cereal comes out are made of rubber. As you know rubber can lose its shape with time. After about a year with this product the rubber has become loose and easily pops off with the slightest touch. I have feeling I'll need to replace it eventually. So these will probably need to be replaced after a few years in my experience. But they work great until the rubber seals give out.
