This is really clever - put the garlic clove in the sleeve, roll it on your kitchen counter, and in a few seconds you have a nicely peeled garlic clove. The skin stays inside the sleeve, which you rinse under the faucet. Whacking garlic with a knife is all very well if you have servants to remove errant garlic skins that have gotten stuck on the floor. If you don't, then this sleeve is better - and in the long run it costs you practically nothing per clove.

I didn't believe it, but put it on my wishlist due to the previous good reviews (and the bad reviews of the other garlic peelers out there). I just got it for Christmas, and rushed into the kitchen to test it. I was stunned. It gets every bit of peel off the garlic clove-- easily and quickly. No more picking at it or smushing it! No more smashing cloves w/the side of a knife or any of the other tricks your mother and/or Italian friends taught you to get those pesky skins off. These garlic peelers really work, leaving the cloves intact, the odor off your fingers and they are fun. You simply place a clove or two inside the tube, roll it around and like magic, the skins roll off. We love garlic at my house. I've had one of these for years and it gets nearly daily use. It's small, light, doesn't complain, doesn't need much room, and works perfectly 95% of the time (the other 5%, old garlic or some other detail makes it a little messy). I give these as gifts regularly and people are always so happy with them. If you don't have one and you ever need to peel garlic, BUY iT!Customer Review: Wow! Extremely EASY!

I bought one of these for my 88 yr old grandfather who eats a clove of garlic every day for his heart, and boy, this little gadget is a dream for him. He breaks up the head of garlic and puts the clove in with everything attached, a couple of quick rolls, and the clove is peel free. Rinse and store your peeler when done, it's also dishwasher safe. I'm glad I bought one for myself, too :)
