Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Zak Designs E-Z-Rol Garlic Peeler, Blue

Customer Review: Pricey but worth it
Summary: 5 Stars

We love cooking with garlic, but neither one of us ever got the "whack with a knife" trick to really work. Consequently, peeling garlic was a tedious, time-consuming, and messy chore. No more. Pop the clove into the tube, roll the tube a few times across the counter and voila! The garlic, she is peeled. For those who complain about the garlic peels inside the tube: give me a break! Stick the thing under the faucet for two seconds and it's cleaned out and ready to go again. Having to rinse out the tube after every four or five peelings is nowhere near as time-consuming as it was to peel garlic the old-fashioned way. This is one of those terrific gift items for anyone who even occasionally cooks with garlic. They'd never make the purchase themselves, but once they have this, they will wonder how they got along without it.

Customer Review: I only wish that I had bought one sooner.
Summary: 5 Stars

I often use fresh garlic in my cooking, and have never really enjoyed having to peel it, before I got this garlic peeler.

With this little tool, you don't have to pick the little papery outer shell bits out of each clove, one by one, as you do when you smash a clove of garlic with the side of a chef's knife, and it's infinitely easier than peeling a clove of garlic with a paring knife.

Clean up couldn't be easier, either. Just rinse it under the tap, and stand it up on a peg in the dishwasher.

This garlic peeler is such a simple idea that you will ask yourself, "Why didn't I think of that?" It makes peeling garlic extremely simple and easy.

Cooking can be very creative. Why not make one of the more tedious parts of the process a whole lot more fun?

Customer Review: I know there are plenty of reviews, but ...
Summary: 5 Stars

I just want to add that this product totally works. I have a couple of them (I don't know why I need more than 1, but I do). If all this does is up the average score, so be it. But I think the average score and number of people asserting that this works matters. So many things are gimmicks - there are a few kitchen items that seem like they could be gimmicky but aren't. The two that come to mind are this and the submersible egg cooker (that tells you how done an egg is).

Just adding my vote of confidence to the plethora of reviews. This totally works - toss in a clove, and roll with some pressure. The peel comes off and you have a peeled clove. Only way it could be easier is if you bought pre-peeled garlic.

Customer Review: Great little Gadget
Summary: 5 Stars

We received one of these as a wedding gift 5 years ago and it has probably seen the most use out of anything else in the kitchen (excpet maybe the wooden spoon). I am of the school that you can never have enough garlic in anything you make and there should be garlic in everything you make. You just stick the cloves in and press down and give it a roll and voils, you pop the peeled garlic out the end. Your fingers won't reek like garlic for days (just your breathe). Cleaning is as easy as running it under hot water when you are done. I was so impressed with receiving this as a wedding gift that we have bought these as an companion to every wedding gift we have bought for friends and relatives over the years. What a great gadget.

Customer Review: Hey, it works, no more rubbing spoons!
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw this on TV once, I can't remember where or what show, but someone used a little roller to peel garlic. Used to peeling it with my fingers, I watched in amazement as the person just rolled the cloves in a little sleeve and voila!! Peeled garlic and no garlic finger smell that you had to rub a stainless steel spoon to get rid of.

Now, I own this little gem myself and...it works. It does what it's supposed to do, it is relatively inexpensive and to my knowledge, most people never heard of it before. I get a look from friends when they see it and they ask what the heck it's for. So, besides working ,it also makes a interesting conversation piece in your kitchen.
