Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Whirlpool : WFW9400SZ 27 Front Load Washer with 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity White/Sapphire BlueCustomer Review: 6 loads in a day, no problem! Summary: 5 Stars
When we replaced our washer and dryer units I had to work hard get what I wanted. Exceeding my husband expectations of cost was the difficult part but it turns out the Whirlpool Duet front loader washer (GHW9150) and matching dryer (GEW9250) was a great investment. Without being a slave to the laundry room, I can get six large loads done in a day. Being Energy Star certified, the Duet units are extremely efficiently even with large loads. And, the washer conserves water by automatically adjusting how much is needed for each load.
But the decision was not an easy one as some reviews about front loaders discussed concerns of mildew and extreme entanglement of clothing. By actually read the manuals since our purchase (April 2005) we haven't had a single problem or complaint.
every day reasons to love them
- quiet
- quick
- easily cleans/dries large loads
- from delicate to heavy duty, you are in control
green reasons to love them
- uses half the water needed by top loaders
- uses half the energy of traditional units
Customer Review: Good No Great washer Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this washer before. and am now buying a new one. I have just loved this machine. I have had all good luck with it. Like someone said you do half to leave the door open when not in use to dry out. They are air tight. Duh. I would tell my friends to get this one.
Customer Review: As advertised. Summary: 4 Stars
Washer works great. It gets clothes clean, is easy to use, does NOT smell, and is energy efficient. Add the 15" pedestal stands and you have a washer/dryer combo that is tough to beat.
Customer Review: Execellent washer / Mold issues a big concern Summary: 2 Stars
PROS ::: >> Quality wash >> Large capacity w/ *LARGE* door opening >> High energy efficiency >> Low water consumption >> Enables washing more delicate clothing since there's no agitator.
CONS ::: >> MOLD build on and around the rubber door sleeve!!! We have to leave the door open and regularly clean it out. >> Can't specify default temperature >> Soak cycle doesn't load detergent, etc. and doesn't have any next step options. (Soaks and then sits.) >> Can't custom control cycle times. (The computer has a range for what it allows based on wash type.)
Customer Review: They Don't Care - No Exceptions Summary: 1 Stars
My wife and I bought a brand new Whirlpool washer and dryer set. We loved it for a little over a year. Then the main bearing and the pressure sensor on the washer went out. The cost to repair would have been over $1200. We didn't pay that much for the washer. I called customer service and they told me that they would not do ANYTHING after the one year warranty period expired - "NO EXCEPTIONS!!" I found it difficult to believe that a company as established as Whirlpool would have such a policy. I talked to supervisor and pressed him on the issue. The answer remained - NO EXCEPTIONS. If anything breaks after one year, it is your responsibility. I understand normal wear and tear, but I expect the main bearing on the washer to last several years. I am still stunned that a customer service supervisor would actually tell me that after one year (even a year and a day - as I asked him) they will do NOTHING. Whirlpool does not care about anything after one year. The service man that came and looked at the unit says this happens with Whirlpool often. He said LG and Samsung have better bearings and will last longer. I am still a huge fan of the front load washers and I will be shopping for a new one, but it won't be Whirlpool - never again.
