Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Watersafe WS425W Well Water Test KitCustomer Review: Cheap Peace of Mind Summary: 5 Stars
Some of my family lives out in the countryside and they have potable water wells. Every 5 years or so I pick up one of these packages and test the water just to make sure that everything's in order. I know that I can always take the water to the county or to the department of agriculture to test but I find that doing this keeps me from having to go pick up bottles and pills from them.
I ordered this from Amazon, comes in the mail, follow the simple instructions and you get your water tested.
PROS
- convenient
- easy to use
- good screen test before spending $300 to get your water tested
CONS
- doesn't test for sulfur
- bacteria test doesn't tell you if it's bad or innocuous bacteria
Overall, it's something good to do every once in a while to make sure everything's ok with your water if you own a well or if you're concerned about your water in any way. If you live in a municipality, it might be overkill but if you live in a very old building, it might make sense to get the kit and test for lead in your water.
It's cheap, simple, peace of mind.
Customer Review: Works as expected! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Watersafe kit from amazon and the pro-lab Water Quality Test Kit from home depot. I'm going to be buying a water softener soon, and I have to know how hard my water is before I buy one. I tried the pro-lab one first, and the first test said my water was soft (zero ppm). OK, I know it's not soft. The second test put my numbers around 75 ppm. I was still a little leery about the results since I know for a fact that we have hard water.
I then did the watersafe test and found the hardness to test around 450ppm's. This is a huge difference in the watersafe kit. The other results seemed more of what I would have expected as well.
I've never had my water tested by a lab, but I believe that the watersafe kit is a better choice than others that are out there.
Customer Review: Good kit for the money Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this test kit just to get an idea of how good our well water was to drink. It was very easy to do, just read the instructions, very easy! If it's an accurate test kit, it was certainly worth the money vs. what you would pay for testing by a professional. I guess the only way to know for sure is to have a professional test the water also and compare the results. We're fairly comfortable with the results we got as the only problem we seem to have is acidity and that is accurate with another acidity test we did. We would recommend this test kit.
Customer Review: seems to work; instructions available online Summary: 5 Stars
I will have to take other people's word that the test is accurate since we did not conduct a professional test prior to purchasing this kit. The instructions were not included with this product, [...] Seemed easy enough to use. Also, I noticed that one reviewer claimed not all tests were included. At first glance, you may think this, but if you look through the instructions, you will notice that some test strips are for multiple checks.
Customer Review: Easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
The directions on this kit were very easy to follow and understand. This set of testing took mere minutes (with the exception of the bacteria test - 48hrs) to get results. We are wanting to buy a water filter, and as such wanted to test the water to figure out which would be best for our use. We had good results, all within the exceptable limits. However, if they had appeared off, we would have opted for the more expensive lab testing.
