This simple device that aerates wine instantaneously is the best thing I have spent money on in some time. Based on a principle named after the Italian physicist Venturi, the Vinturi Wine Aerator noticeably improves the taste and smoothness of any wine, red or white, cheap or expensive, as it is poured. It does what it says it will do and then some. I would have been skeptical, but I was introduced to it at the home of friends and experienced its effect in a before-and-after taste comparison. When I got home later that evening, I was not in the door five minutes before ordering my own. I have subsequently bought three more as gifts that will be much appreciated. I was skeptical, but this aerator makes a big impact on the taste. There is no longer any need to let the wine breathe, with literally no waiting. I don't hesitate to pour even the most expensive wine through the aerator to improve it. The only problem is that sometimes the wine will dribble out of the airholes on the side. I haven't figured out a way to totally avoid it, but you can minimize it by placing the flow of wine along the side, rather than directly through, the aerator. Also, it comes with a mesh that fits inside, and is perfect for those times when there are cork pieces (lol). Amazon's price was well below the prices that I saw elsewhere (which was the retail price that Amazon showed).Customer Review: This works- not a joke!!!!!

I was recently able to try this item at a wine merchant (Maddinger in Kirkwood, MO). They used it on a Hawley zinfindel (not the white stuff- the real, dry, red stuff). You could taste the difference immediately. In a taste by taste comparison, after running through the Vinturi Wine Aerator, it was about like letting a bottle breathe for 45 minutes or so before drinking it. A great thing if you decide at the last minute to drink a red wine, especially a heavy red. Not only that, but it is pretty and makes a very entertaining slurpy noise as the wine is aerated. The noise, though short lived, is entertaining enough to be a party conversation starter or to even spice up a dull party.Customer Review: naysayers questionable

umm.. the negative reviews are a bit amusing frankly... are they devoid of taste buds? competitors? what's the deal. For fun I always take a sip before running it through the vinturi and there's no way you can't taste the difference. You'll definitely be more acquainted with what tastes like "tight" wine and one that's aerated.
I gave one to a friend of mine and he agrees that it's great. g/f shows it off to her friends and they're in love with it. Seems a bit pricey for a piece of plastic but the engineering in the design is where it's at. Get one and be done with it. Consider it a life long kitchen tool like a good set of knifes that you buy once.

Love this aerator! I never have the patience to let my wine breathe; when I have a glass or two of wine it's at night after my daughter is in bed, and I rarely remember to open the bottle ahead of time. I wasn't sure how much difference an aerator would make, but I tried the test they suggested in the insert, and there was a huge difference in the wine poured directly from the bottle and the wine that went through the aerator. Only recommendation I would make is buying the combined aerator/stand as it is much cheaper than buying separately. I asked "Santa" for the aerator, but did not think I needed the stand...I have changed my mind and am off to purchase it now.
