Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Vinturi Essential Wine AeratorCustomer Review: Holi areated wine batman!!!! It works!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Ok...so I am not a seasoned wine drinker...in fact I hated red wine and never tried it until someone forced me to go to a wine tasting and learn about it. Voila....my thought changed overnight and now I have dropped the hard alcohol and moved to red-wine.
I have been experimenting with different wines on a regular basis and trying to figure out the subtle differences that exist between the different regions, grapes, etc.... It has been a hard thing for me to find differences in bouquet's, tastes, etc....
Someone recommended a Vinturi....so I figured why not.
I got the device and immediately opened a bottle of Merlot from Italy. Taste test time. I poured 4 half glasses in my new Riedel's.... 2 had un-aerated wine and 2 had wine poured through the Vinturi. I had my wife try a glass of unaerated and then I did the same. WE then went to the Vinturi'd wine..... IMMEDIATELY - the first words out of my wife's mouth....I CAN SMELL THE DIFFERENCE. Taste of course was 2nd and it was remarkably different. I had the same exact results.
I would recommend this product for the novice and the advanced user...
Thanks Vinturi...
Customer Review: It really works well Summary: 5 Stars
After seeing excellent reviews about this product, I decided to try this wine aerator for myself. The aerator even surpassed my expectations! I have an affinity for good 10-year-old red wines and after using this product, even the cheaper, newer wines tasted much better. I own a decanter and I can safely say that I won't have much use for it again. The Vinturi speeds up the breathing process quite well. There are some cheaper wines that I have had to pour through the Vinturi twice (the $5-$7 reds) and it was worth the effort - even they tasted better. I gave one to my Dad for an early fathers day present because whenever I am at his place, he always buys the "cheapest of the cheap" brands of red wine, and, since I am his son, I'll drink a glass and "gut it out". So when he used it, even he, my taste-dead dad, could tell the difference. I was hoping he wouldn't have noticed. This aerator really works with the cheaper wines, and I actually enjoyed the glass I drank with him. When I got home, I had to go buy another one for myself. It wasn't a hard decision. If you really like red wine, get this product - you won't be dissappointed.
Customer Review: IN PRAISE OF THE VINTURI Summary: 5 Stars
In praise of the vinturi.
You know, I don't quite know what it is. The wine does seem to taste a smidgen better. Whether it's the gurgling/slurping sound as the wine gurgles into the glass or the array of bubbles that distribute over the surface and pop slowly as one savors the wine. It seems that both the nose and the palate livens a little. It's like the wine smiles. Or maybe it's all in my head.
But on a more practical level, it's easy to live with. I have checked out as many aerators as I could, and they all worked to some degree. Most of them stick like a cork in the bottle. This one you hold like a funnel, and pour the wine through it. At first, you would think this tedious, but in practice, having a mobile aerator that can be used for any bottle of wine is an asset. In addition, there is a fine mesh filter in the mouth that extracts any solids that may be present; that's handy for tartaric acid or cork. Also, there is a handy holder. Drips have not been a problem. This unit gets my vote.
Customer Review: It's Wonderful When a Product Meets Expectations Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using the Vinturi for about a month and could not be happier with it. Unlike many products it actually does what it claims to do. In comparison testing I was able to pick out the aerated wine on each occasion. Although I would suggest not using it on nominally priced (i.e. cheaper) wines because they tend to lose body. It makes drinking wine even more pleasurable and it allows you to enjoy the full flavor without having to wait. I still suggest waiting 5-10 minutes on a chilled red. Finally, while doing some research on the product I did notice some complaints concerning the mess. Since I was willing to deal with some mess anyway it never affected my decision to purchase the Vinturi. However, I have been more than pleasantly surprised by the lack of mess. An occasional drop or two, but I'd do that even if I were simply pouring the wine directly into a glass. I would recommend this product for those not wishing to decant.
Customer Review: Better if done 2-3 times Summary: 5 Stars
I was skeptical at first since I've spent some $$$ on decanters. There's always a wine gimmick around the corner, so again I didn't quite believe the hype. Boy was I wrong... I agree with others where they say "it works!"
The slurping sound is a bit strange, but the outcome is undeniable. Smoother, brings out the bouquet to the nose, along with flavors. The first pour through, I used a Napanook 2004. There was an improvement in the bouquet, but more so the smoothness on my palate. I wondered what would happen with few more passes. So I repeated it 3 times total. What a difference! Tried one glass fresh out of the bottle and compared it to the glass that was filtered 3x -- I had an unbiased observer and they thought it was two different vintages of the wine!!!
I like my cab's so that's my experiences so far. I'll experiment with a chard or a shiraz in the near future and give an update.
