So easy I'm sorry I waited so long to try it! Living in a small apartment for several years, I've missed having an outdoor garden to grow my own vegetables. This is a great alternative for me. Just remember to run water through it twice a day. (My brother recommends 3/4 trayful of water with 1 tablespoon vinegar, followed by 3/4 trayful of plain water (don't forget to empty the bottom water tray), to supress undesired things such as mold; this is working great and the seeds are sprouting fine.) For seeds I'm using "zesty sprouting mix" from NOW foods.Customer Review: I never realized this would be so easy

I just harvested my first crop and can't wait to get started on the next one. (For my first crop, I only did one tray, just to see how successful I'd be.) The only caveat: after the seeds have sprouted, the seed coverings might accumulate under the little flower-shaped caps that wick the water and restrict the water flow. Lift the caps up slightly and clear the area under them out with a toothpick to be sure the water flows freely.
Now that I've seen how easy this is to do, I'm going to order the big seed sampler I've had my eye on.

I have tried different methods for sprouting seeds before but they never worked well. This sprouter does the job without a lot of effort.
To begin with, it is compact so it doesn't take up a lot of space on the counter. It is also very easy to use: just fill the top container with water and when it is done, empty the water from the bottom container.
You are supposed to add water twice a day, but I do it about three times and I always use filtered water.
No mess no fuss and it is easy to clean.
I definitely recommend it.

I purchased this model sprouter at a local grocery store what must be over 10 years ago and have been very satisfied with it. I recently picked up a 2 tray square sprouter at "The Home Depot" and found that these new designs have holes too large that allow smaller seeds like onion and broccoli fall through. Based on this disappointment, I'm returning to buy a 2nd sprouter of this design to increase our growing capacity. I'm curious to see if I can combine trays with our existing sprouter and water all 6 at once.Customer Review: I got one for my mom, and now one for myself!

I LOVE IT!! Jars are good and all, but this sprouter is compact, easy to clean and with a neat-durable-resistant design. The one I got my mom cost 15 dollars, mine cost 11 something, and I am seing it at 10 now... I do not know what they are reducing the cost with... the $15dollar one had better packaging, but mine had a little bag of alfalfa seeds, and it arrived in good condition. the seeds were enough to sprout 9 individual trays with the recommended quantity. Really great deal!
