I have been using this functional bread knife at home for over a year and find it to be the blade of choice for many cooking chores, including carving large pieces of meat. Best of all this is a superior knife for cutting all baked goods, from angel food cake to hard, crusty artisan loaves of bread. It is a commercial quality kitchen tool suitable for many kitchen chores. When I recently read the COOKS ILLUSTRATED review of serrated knives I was happy to see my favorite bread knife getting the highest recommendation.Customer Review: Excellent Knife

This is a great all around knive, solid and comfortable. R H Forschner by Victorinox has won me over, thanks to America's test Kitchen's / Cooks Illustrated's reviews of this knife. I wouldn't have tried it if it weren't for them.
I have always thought you needed to pay big bucks for a great knife, but this really a great knife at a great price.
Blade is flexible, yet strudy.
This knive is so much more than a Bread Knife. It is extremely versitile.

All of these five star ratings are accurate! I grind my own wheat and bake my own bread, so I decided to give this one a try. It is worth every penny. I actually bought this for my husband for Christmas because he'd been complaining about cutting the bread with our 20 year old knife. He questioned this knife the minute he unwrapped it. One month later, however, his first comment was that we should buy one for each of our three married daughters. Well, enough said. I love this knife! It was top rated on America's Test Kitchen and my parents bought one, so I tried it and fell in love. I bought one for my husband for his birthday and he was so thrilled with it that he bought one for his brother for Christmas. It's that great. Super sharp, cuts through bread effortlessly and doesn't damage soft loaves. It's not too heavy and is well balanced. The company that makes it also makes Swiss Army Knives; it's very high quality. This knife can do it all-it slices through everything with ease. Breads can now be sliced as thin as you want without smashing the loaf. I am going to get rid of a bunch of knives since I always reach for this amazing knife for almost everything I want to slice. It is truly all purpose and extremely sharp. I love this knife so much I am ordering another one to have at my cottage. I am also looking at their steak knives and probably will try those next.
