Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Vic Firth French Rolling Pin

Customer Review: Dough does not stick!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This rolling pin is a heaven-sent piece of kitchen equipment and I would like to send my former teflon coated rolling pin to some other non-heavenlike place...

Rolling dough with this is very easy and it stays coated with flour quite well. I usually have a ton of problems with dough sticking to my rolling pin, but not with this one... AT ALL.
Also, it rolls the dough extremely evenly - which is a nice bonus.
The shape is really simple too, so clean up is a snap.
This is a real winner for beginners and experts alike. I highly recommend it. It would make a great gift for someone who loves to bake as well.

Customer Review: Not Just for Musicians!
Summary: 5 Stars

Yes, I admit it...I purchased this rolling pin because I'm a musician. I've always been a fan of Vic Firth's drumsticks and as I needed a French pin this seemed a natural choice. This is certainly up to the quality standards one expects from Vic Firth. I kept the little sleeve the pin came in as it looks just like the sleeves the drumsticks come in. OK...I'm easily amused; this is, however, a serious piece of kitchen equipment and my first choice when I reach in the drawer for a rolling pin. The wood is smooth and the pin is very maneuverable. This French pin is well worth the little extra you will spend over a cheaper pin.

Customer Review: Lightweight and easy to use!
Summary: 5 Stars

This product is as described. The Wood is good quality and has a smooth surface. No splintering or dry cracked areas. After applying a light dusting of flour to the rolling pin, I was able to roll the dough with ease and no sticking. If you have never used this type of rolling pin before it might take a little practice. After a few tries I was able to develop a method that is working well for me. I use it a lot for rolling out tortillas, pizza dough and pie crust. I find circles difficult to make with a straight pin and seem to be having better luck with this tapered pin. Very lightweight and easy to use!

Customer Review: Good basic rolling pin
Summary: 5 Stars

I like to bake but usually only stuck to things that didn't need to be rolled out - this was probably because I only had one rolling pin made out of heavy marble that I disliked having to pick up and deal with the handles turning around.

I bought this French rolling pin on a whim because it was inexpensive. It's so light, easy to clean and easy to use that I find myself making and rolling out pizza dough, cookies and other pastries more often. For doughs that need to stay cold I'll probably continue to chill and use the marble pin but for everything else I'm using my new wood pin!

Customer Review: Not just for pie crust!
Summary: 5 Stars

The other reviewers are quite right that this pin will get your pie dough smooth and round without all the fuss you are accustomed to. However, you will truly feel tears of joy and gratitude welling up in your eye sockets the first time you roll out a batch of tortilla dough with this handsome little devil. Hallelujah!!! Nothing is more embarrassing than presenting your guests with unshapely flatbreads (burnt because you toiled so long on each that the previous one was neglected on the griddle). This beauty gets it done with speed, dignity, and a touch of sass.
