I purchased this item after having researched several different cat water fountains. This one had the best reviews and ratings. I have 4 cats and ALL of them love it and use it. One of them was slow to come around to it, but finally has. It's quiet, has a great capacity and is easy to disassemble and clean. Fantastic Fountain; not only do my four(4) cats love it, the water stays cleaner and fresher twice as long as the earlier model without the built-in reservoir. As for some of the other reviews that state the reservoir is difficult to put in when filled, I totALLY DISAGREE!! Somehow I became *that* pet owner who spoils her dog with a fountain and then fresh filters for the fountain... but really they are great. They help keep the bowl and the water cleaner which means less work for me and better for our cute mutt Lucy. This fountain keeps her from drinking from the toilet, what more could you ask for. Easy to use, rinse before inserting, keeps water fresh and clean for over a month. My cats love the flowing water. In the summer, I add ice cubes to the bowl. When I change the filter, I wash the entire bowl in hot, soapy water and rinse well. I use the great "Drinkwell" cleaning kit to scrub the nooks and crannies. This takes only 5 minutes per month. I've used carbon filters in fish tanks, but these carbon filters for the Drinkwell Platinum pet fountain are great. They last a long time. I have 2 cats and they last about a month if you take it out and rinse it really well half way through. I like that they have it segmented so all the carbon doesn't settle to the bottom, it makes for very effective filtering.
