We have the Drinkwell Platinum Fountain and use these filters that go with it. The filters are very effective and do not need to be changed too often, about once every two months. We do use filtered water though so that may be why they do not need to be changed as often. It's great to know that even though the water we provide our cats is filtered, it also goes through another filtration while in the fountain. I would recommend using the fountain and filters with filtered water and of course, clean the entire fountain thoroughly often for best use.Customer Review: Product seems to work

I don't know how exactly you are supposed to review filters, but as far as I can see they work fine. My little male kitty loves to drink from the fountain and drinks a lot. My little female kitty refuses to drink anything but LA water in a bowl and since she can be a bit of a bully, I'm not going to insist so that she drives my male kitty away. Anyway, it seems to do the job and doesn't leave any particles. And I love the Drinkwell Fountain which is silent and not difficult to maintain.Customer Review: Very nice, keeps water clean

I have had this drinking fountain for 2 weeks now and just gave it its first big cleaning. It seems to be working well, things were a little slimy but it was nothing some soap and hot water couldn't take care of. I can't say that my cat is drinking more for sure and it seems like he is still leery of the stream of water, but I am glad that his water is constantly moving (not stagnant or stale) and that bad things are getting filtered out. I have not had 1 problem with these filters as long as I use them as the instructions say. Pre-Rinse, insert properly, and clean entire fountain weekly. The only time I have ever seen "SLIME" on these filters is when I didn't clean the fountain for 4 weeks. I even went 2 months without changing the filter 1 time and didn't see slime because I was cleaning the fountain weekly. Use the product as the manual says and you should not have any problems at all.Customer Review: great filters

These filters are great. I check mine each time I clean out the whole tank (about every 2 weeks) and only replace the filter when it seems a little slimy. So far, they seem to be lasting about 3 months or so. I noticed in the product instructions that the filters are optional, so maybe you only really need them if you don't have good water. We have NYC water which is excellent, so I don't think there is a lot to filter out anyway.
