Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Tovolo Star Ice Pop Molds, Set of 6, Green

Customer Review: Great product, great service
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very pleased with our shooting star pop molds, at first I was a little concerned that they were too big(about 1/3c per mold) but decided to purchase them because they were the only molds I could find that were BPA free, but my kids handle them just fine (3 and 4 years old) I primarily fill them with yogurt smoothies and on rare occasions chocolate milk.

To release the mold I just run warm water on them for a few moments, or roll them between my hands for a little bit, on a hot day this really takes hardly any time at all. I have never had a problem.

I was so disappointed when one day one of the mold sheathings fell down in the dishwasher and the heating element melted a hole into it. In hope of replacing the single mold I called the Tovolo customer service number I found on the website and left a message asking how I could order a replacement. That same day someone called me back requesting my address, because they had found an extra that was just hanging around the office and wanted to ship it out to me at no charge! Thanks for the great customer service Tovolo! I am very satisfied and would definitely recommend your product to others.

Customer Review: Easy-to-use & safe-plastic popsicle molds!
Summary: 5 Stars

I researched quite a bit before making this purchase and I'm so glad I did! The Tovolo popsicle molds are fantastic!! They are easy to use, easy to clean and they have used non-leaching plastic which makes me very happy (I contacted Tovolo directly to confirm this)!

The size of the popsicles is rather large -- but we've been making healthy fruit-yogurt smoothie pops at home and my three year old can easily polish off an entire popsicle... so the size isn't a problem!!

Be sure to leave a half an inch or so when filling the popsicles or as they expand in the freezer they may spill over. That happened to us once, but the base captured the spill over so the clean up was really easy. They do take up quite a bit of space in the freezer when they are first freezing, but as long as you leave adequate space when you first fill them (so they don't spill over and get sticky), you can remove them from the base and tuck them anywhere in your freezer.

This is a fantastic summer cooking "tool"... and we've been giving them to our friends as presents and so far, everyone else has loved them too!

Customer Review: Pudding Pops Aren't Just for Kids!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

These are so much fun! Pudding pops, juice pops, sorbet pops, and I am determined to figure out how to line the inside with chocolate and then fill it with an ice cream base! This a nice sturdy set that should last awhile. I decided to get this type because I didn't want to be bothered with the wooden sticks and having to replace them. Plus this is the perfect size for my small household. The set makes large pops so those with small children may want to reconsider. I can't imagine giving one of these supersize pops to a two year old!

Prepare to clear a spot in your freezer for this set as it needs its own space. Once the capped molds are in the base, it needs about 8" of head space. The base is about 7" wide.

For refreshing and inexpensive treats at home, healthy or not, you decide, this is the way to go!

This is a great accessory item for the Vitamix. Vita-Mix 1321 Professional Series, Ruby

Customer Review: Starry-eyed wonder
Summary: 5 Stars

At least on the faces of the children you hand these to. Not only can they help make up their own popsicles (from real fruit and juices!), but they're rather large. As yet, my nine year old has not finished an entire one, although they're the right size for adult use. The best part is their separation as individual units. You can make six different flavors, or eat a few, clean and refill them, and have an endless supply of pops available when needed as a quick and cold treat. They're extremely easy to use, just make sure you have a flat space in your freezer to stand them upright, so they don't spill while solidifying.

So far we've made two kinds of pops since we got them:

Honeydew Pistachio pops made with fresh honeydew, cream, honey, and crushed, raw pistachios.

Tropical Paradise pops made with coconut milk, mangos, pineapple, bananas, and peaches with a touch of agave syrup. Yum!

Customer Review: Love these
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought 4 sets of these star pop molds last month. At first when they came I realized how big the star tray was that you set the pops in, taking up huge amounts of freezer space since I make 4 sets at a time. After they were frozen though I realized all I needed to do was take them out of the tray and store them laying flat inside the freezer, taking up hardly any room at all. A wonderful bonus is that when a kid wants a pop I only have to run the ONE pop under warm water to get it out of the mold. All of my other pop molds that I have bought over the years I am always running warm water over the whole tray of pops trying to get out just one or two at a time. Overall I love these pop molds!
