Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Tovolo Blue Rocket Pop MoldsCustomer Review: Great, durable and Fun! Summary: 5 StarsMy Kids love these. They are sturdy enough to make smoothie pops with. I like that they have a bottom that can catch any spills. These are much better than the dollar store ones.
Customer Review: Well-Made Popsicle Molds with a Few Minor Comments Summary: 5 StarsThese molds are very well-made, and my three-year-old son LOVES them. He likes the rocket ship shape and that we can make all sorts of flavors. Of course, I don't tell him that our home made treats are healthier than most of the ones you buy in the store (we usually just use fruit juice), and he's none the wiser - yet.
Here are some positives:
- They can be removed one at a time.
- Making popsicles at home us MUCH cheaper than purchasing them at a store.
- The base and molds are extremely sturdy (much sturdier than they look in the image on Amazon)
- The molds fit snugly into the base so they won't fall over.
- The tops of the molds snap on, so they will not fall off easily when putting the mold tray in the freezer.
- All parts are top rack dishwasher safe.
A few very minor negatives:
- The tops leak a tiny bit if you invert the molds before freezing, but then again, why would you do that?
- The top have handles that have a slight indentation that collects a tiny bit of water in the dishwasher, but if you wash them by hand or place them just so in the top rack, this isn't a problem.
And, a few tips:
- If you use plain fruit juice, be aware that freezing takes away some of the sweetness, which could be compensated by using juice that is slightly sweet than normal.
- Try using pudding instead of juice, or even pureed fruit, which is healthier than juice.
- Melted ice cream also works.
- To remove the popsicles from the molds, run them under hot running water for a few seconds, then give the molds a jiggle and a squeeze, and they will remove just fine.
All in all, these molds are wonderful, and we would definitely purchase them again.
Customer Review: Better Than Breyers Summary: 5 StarsMake popsicles in any flavor you love and save money too! I thought these forms were a little pricey so I only ordered 1 set to start. They are actually much sturdier than the old Tupperware style - and much larger. Best surprise is the nice texture you get from the shape. I ALWAYS have some sugar-free pops frozen and ready in the freezer. Already I have saved money since the Breyers equivalent is about $4 per box at the grocery store here.
Customer Review: Great set Summary: 4 StarsGreat little popsicle set. Works well, seems sturdy. Takes a little effort to extract the frozen popscicle from the sleeve, but I believe that to be the same with any of these devices. Warm water on the outside of the sleeve does the trick pretty well.
The handle also acts as a little basin to catch drips. Good choice overall.
Customer Review: Love these Summary: 5 StarsThese are great. I thought I'd read a review that they were large, but they're the size of a regular pop IMO and my almost-4 year old has no problem eating all of it. They are messy, but all popsicles are for my preschooler. Great design in that you can take them out/refill them individually. Haven't had a problem w/ the plastic breaking but also haven't dropped it--freezing will weaken all glass and plastic. I've dropped and broken "unbreakable" Corelle dishes that way.
Love that I can make all-juice, corn syrup and dye- free ice pops.
Coming back to edit that I dropped them and the plastic did break. I"m still able to use 4 of them, so I do. I still maintain that this is a user error rather than a design flaw, so be careful not to drop them!
