We live in a small studio apartment, and kitchen counter space is at a premium. After getting 3 beautifully sharp and lovely Shun knives, I needed to get a knife block to store them safely. This is the one we went with. There was a tiny bit of damage on the bottom of the unit (where you would never see it) but other than that it was very well constructed and fits the drawer perfectly -- right next to the silverware tray (also bamboo, so nice that they match).
No complaints, stores knives vertically, easy to put them in and take them out. It does seem like if you had every slot filled it would be a little bit tight around the handles (the Shun knives are slightly offset) but with only a few knives in the block this is exactly what I was looking for.
Recommended if you have a small amount of space and do have the room in a drawer to store your knives.
