Customer Review: This mug really, REALLY will not leak (when closed)

This is my favorite travel mug. This is the only mug I've ever found that really is leak-proof.
It seal with a stopper which screws in to make a seal with rubber gaskets, like a thermos. It stays hot for a long time and does not leak.
Every other "leak-proof" mug I've tried leaked if I tried to carry it around sideways or something, not this one. I can fill it and hook it to my backpack and forget about it. It only leaks when the stopper isn't screwed in tightly.
Like a thermos, it is possible to destroy the mug by filling with a hot liquid and forgetting about it for too long. As the liquid cools, a vacuum forms and it can be impossible to get the stopper out. You can't even use a wrench the way you can on a normal thermos, because the stopper is inset. Otherwise, it's durable enough to survive being hit by a car (one of mine did).

I've had this mug for 3 months and it performs flawlessly. It is truly a "Thermos," and as such, it fulfills its claim by keeping my beverage hot for hours. Oftentimes, I'll arrive at work at 7:00 a.m. and leave a quarter cup of coffee in my car. During my drive home (approx. 4:00 p.m.), I'll drink the remainder and it's still warm!A twist of the cap (180 degrees to the left) opens the drink channel... very convenient and easy to get used to. A twist in the opposite direction, and you can tackle the sharpest turns -- or those challenging freeway exit ramps -- with confidence and NO SPILLS. The rugged stainless-steel, sculpted design is both handsome and ergonomic. The grip is thick and sturdy and the mug feels very well balanced in the hand.
Considering that I'll most likely use this mug during the next 5-10 years, the average, annual cost ... seems pretty reasonable.

The double stainless vacuum wall keeps coffee hot, and the leak-proof lid is really leak-proof. I carried this mug almost everyday for over two years now, and no drips. I love that it can tumble out of the car cup holders without worrying about spills, stains, or hot coffee on my lap.
I do hand wash mine, as the user manual says it's not dishwasher safe.
Not only does the stainless double wall keep your drink hot, it doesn't add any off flavors like plastic does. Nothing spoils fresh-roasted, fresh-brewed coffee more than plastic overtones.
The construction is very durable. This mug will take being dropped, kicked, and crammed into crevices. I suspect I will eventually have to replace the o-ring on the lid but haven't had to yet. If I ever do have to replace the mug, I will be replacing it with the exact same mug.

After wading through all kinds of different mugs that can't keep coffee hot, I found this one. My brother and I both have one and love them. They will indeed keep coffee hot for an hour. I also use it to keep water, iced coffee, juice, etc. cold, which if anything lasts even longer.
This mug contains space between the walls that is vacuum sealed to eliminate temperature change. It works very well and if you want something to transport your drink in you'll find none better.
I will warn that the amount of liquid coming out depends on how much you unscrew the lid (should make sense). Once I wasn't getting much out so I unscrewed it another turn and to my shock the coffee flooded out, severely burning my mouth... I was not expecting such a drastic difference. Needless to say, I'm a little more careful now, but it doesn't hurt to mention it.

My first mug is still going strong, although the lip is a little banged up from when I left the mug on the roof of the car and set off. Just bought a second for stock as I worry that this will eventually cease to be sold and I will lose the one I have. This mug does not fit into the cup holder of a VW Passat, but the handle will hook over the edge of the cup holder and thus works fine. With the lid on tight heat is retained for over an hour. On one's desk without the lid it outperforms your standard coffee cup in terms of heat retention. This is the mug to buy. The only drawback, and it is not worth taking away one star, is that if you just loosen the lid to drink while moving, some liquid will collect in the finger hold spaces in the lid and therefore will be sloshing about when you screw the lid back down. Hardly a negative compared to all the junk out there.t
