Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Thermos Nissan 61 Ounce Stainless Steel Bottle with Folding HandleCustomer Review: Thermos Nissan surpasses ANY expectations Summary: 5 Stars
I had read that the Thermos Nissan insulated bottle was one of the best, if not THE best. I decided to 'give it a go', so I ordered the 61 ounce container. I tested it for heat retention only. Normally, on my Stanley insulated bottle, I would pre-heat the container by filling it with boiling water, sealing it and leaving it for approximately 30 minutes. I'd then empty it and then immediately fill it with my hot coffee. I prefer my coffee to be hotter than the average person likes it. Even tho' Stanley had been considered a 'benchmark' in insultated containers, I was never even slightly impressed with Stanley's ability to keep things hot.
With the Thermos Nissan container, I did NOT pre-heat the container with boiling water. What I DID do was fill to it the top with microwaved boiling water. I capped it, left it in an 80 degree environment, then waited. After 6 hours, I poured out approximately 16 ounces of hot water. The temperature might have dropped 10 degrees, still leaving the liquid far too hot to consider drinking. Great! After 6 more hours, I poured out another 16 ounces. The water scalded my lip as I tried to sip a few molecules. Hot dog! I have a REAL insulating container here, people! After waiting 6 more hours, I poured out another 16 ounces. The temperature was dropping, but I still had to blow on it before sipping. After 5 more hours, for a total of 23 hours, I poured out the remaining water. The water was now close to my normal drinking temperature, still too hot for most people. Bear in mind that I started out with boiling water, but still...
It's needless to say that I am thrilled with my Thermos Nissan! What is truly amazing is that as you open and pour out a portion of the hot liquid, it's easier for the remaining hot liquid to lose heat. With the Thermos Nissan, the overall heat retention was outstanding times 10! Retaining heat, with the container being mostly empty was incredible and Thermos Nissan surpassed any and every expectation I could have ever had. If you are in the market for an insulated beverage container, THIS is it! Try as you may, you won't find a better one.
Customer Review: It's as great as everyone says Summary: 5 Stars
After reading all of the positive reviews on this baby, I wasn't at all hesitant to give it a try. I bought it to keep an appreciable amount of sweet tea hot over the course of an eight hour day, which it does surprisingly well.
I do as the accompanying directions recommend, and fill it with hot tap water to preheat. I actually do this the night before, after I've rinsed it out from a day's use. It stays plenty hot overnight, until my wife fills it with hot tea for the day.
The only negative manufacturing criticism I have is of a slightly sharp edge on the inside lip of the top cup. After drinking out of it for a couple of days, it started to abrade my upper lip. I suspect that this sharp-ish edge isn't flashing from the injection molding, per se, but just a really tight 90 degree corner. I imagine that this could be easily remedied with a little bit of rubbing with 600 grit wet sandpaper, but I opted instead to bring along a good-sized coffee mug to substitute.
Its insulating properties are nearly miraculous, it looks good, and is built like a tank. I'd buy another, buy it for a gift I'd be proud to give, or otherwise recommend it to anyone without reservation.

Customer Review: It holds the entire pot of coffee Summary: 5 Stars
Thermos and Nissan are respected brands - and for a reason. They work.
An entire pot of coffee from our Cuisinart 12 Cup Programmable Coffeemaker DCC-2400 (that's actually almost 71 ounces after brewing), will fit into this thermos and will stay hot for 24 hours when you preheat the thermos, according to the directions in the inserts. (We put the milk/sweetener in separate containers and add to each individual cup as we go along.) The screw-on lid has a pouring spout for convenience so that you don't have to take it all the way off and expose the coffee to a lot of air. The cup on top has a good volume to it, as well, although we typically take travel mugs with us Thermos Nissan 14-Ounce Leak-Proof Insulated Travel Mug
My husband likes to take a pot of coffee to work. We've used other brands, like Stanley and Igloo, which had neither the volume capacity, nor the ability to keep coffee hot (and therefore tasty) like this large Thermos Nissan. A Must Have for anyone who likes to take a pot of coffee on the road!
Customer Review: Great Thermos Summary: 5 Stars
I have used this thermos daily (M-F) for about six weeks now. I love the style and the looks, and the cap is very tight and prevents leaks even when the thermos falls over in the car on the way to work. Also, the pour feature of the cap is easy to use. You back out the cap just a couple of turns to allow the liquid to flow out and then re-tighten to retain the temperature. The pop out handle is great. I have ended up detaching the strap because it is so easy and comfortable to carry by the handle. But the number one reason this is a five star thermos to me is that it keeps coffee hot the entire work day. I do preheat the thermos for at least 15 minutes in the morning. The coffee goes into the thermos about 7:30 AM. I have had a cup as late as 3:30 the same afternoon, and while not blistering hot, the coffee is still hot enough to instantly melt the powdered creamer and sweetener I use. And the coffee is still hot, not just lukewarm. I really love this thermos. It replaced a thermos with a glass liner that broke into about two million pieces all over the kitchen floor, so I also appreciate the stainless liner of this thermos.
Customer Review: Not Kidding When they say it keeps stuff hot for 24 hours! Summary: 5 Stars
I took both my giant 61 oz Thermos and my 16 oz food carrier, both stainless steel inside and out (!), to class with me during the blizzard here in East! I couldn't carry everything at once, so I was going to come back for it. But I got distracted with something. And of course, I forgot that both were in my trunk. They had been outside in sub-freezing temps for hours and I had little hope that my coffee and soup were even remotely warm, let alone piping hot!
But I took the lid off the Nissan Thermos first and was shocked! Not only was it hot, it was basically as hot as it was when I filled it first thing that morning! I checked the wide mouth food container and found hr same thing! The food was piping hot!
Considering they sat in my quite literally freezing trunk for about 5 hours, but still managed to keep my food piping, I'd say these Thermoses are AWESOME. Add to that they are stainless steel, both inside and out, and you have a rock solid product that is MUCH healthier than plastic poison alternatives and is ECO friendly!
Highly recommend both!
