first off it's a little big to be carrying casually around but not so big that it's a real hassle. My mom worries about water spots but if you wipe it dry it's no problem.
I've used mine for hot drinks and cold. It kept iced coffee cold all morning and afternoon. I didn't try to keep it around any longer. I know it keeps hot water hot all night because I have to go to school really early and it's freezing where I live. So I tried to keep some hot water around so I don't have to boil water in the morning for my instant oatmeal. It worked great. Another time I had green tea with my dinner and this was around 6:30 or 7pm. I couldn't finish it all by bed time so I had about a cupful left (6 oz or so). I decided what the heck, i'll see if it's still good in the morning. I woke up a little before 7am and it was the perfect temperature! It was still hot but not steaming hot. It's the temperature where your drink has cool down enough to gulp it down instead of taking tiny sips.
It's really easy to keep clean. Best way is to wash it right after you're done. One time I didn't wash it til a day later. I stuck a scrub in there and used a chopstick to move it up and down the side. I rinsed with hot water.
