Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Thermos Nissan 18-Ounce Stainless-Steel Insulated Travel TumblerCustomer Review: would highly recommend Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this travel mug for over a year and a half now and it's excellent. At the time, I was just looking for a stainless steel mug to avoid plastics with food. However, this has been better than any plastic travel mug I've ever owned. Drinks stay hot, the grip is really comfortable to hold, and it's easy to clean. I have never put it in the dishwasher; just hand-washed it as recommended. When I get home I put water in it and let it sit until I'm washing my dinner dishes. It still looks new, so it's holding up very well. Though I've also never dropped it on a hard surface or given it a reason to break. With normal-use and hand-washing, I expect this mug to last forever. Everyone should have a travel mug, even when going out for beverages. Tip: Bring this 18oz mug to your coffee shop, but order a small drink. They *always* without fail fill my mug up to the top - both national chains and my local shops. For example, I go to Starbucks and order a tall (12oz) and I always get 18oz of beverage. If you like to order medium/large drinks anyways - this will save you money! :)
Customer Review: Excellent Tumbler for Persons on the Go! Summary: 5 Stars
I received this tumbler for my birthday, and it is one of the best presents I have ever been given. I have a couple of the larger, wide-bottomed Thermos mugs, but they are only practical at home or at the office. They simply don't fit into the cup holder of a car. This tumbler holds a generous amount of hot coffee, and keeps it hot for hours. The swinging, snap lid is easy to open and close. It will snap to a fixed, open position as well as to a closed position. With this tumbler, I can leave the house early in the morning with a full container of coffee, sipping from it as I drive my son to school. I can continue sipping on the way to the gym and back. If I have any coffee left, I then take it to the office with me. The portability is simply GREAT. Although I use this tumbler exclusively for hot coffee, it will work well with any hot or cold beverage. It's my favorite Thermos product so far, and is definitely well-worth the price!
Customer Review: perfect travel mug! Summary: 5 Stars
this mug is perfect for sipping. if the coffee's too hot, you just tip it until the perfect amount is sitting in the top part of the mug, which you can then cool by blowing on it and sip at the perfect temperature. as for what others have said about not being able to clean around the rim...i'm not really sure what they're talking about b/c the edge of my sponge easily squeezes into that part to clean it out w/o having to use a q-tip. when you flip the top open, it snaps on the other side, and when you close it, it also snaps in place. and as others have said, it's not spill proof, but i knew that before buying. and it fits perfectly in the tiny cupholders my car was equipped with. and of course, it keeps my coffee piping hot. i once forgot to take my coffee mug with me and left it at home all day. while it was not steaming hot when i got home, it was still pretty warm!
Customer Review: Great Mug and Easy to Clean Summary: 5 Stars
Finally, a mug that doesn't get a gross build up of impossible-to-clean-out gunk! A tea and chai drinker, I often carry around drinks that are 25-50% milk, and few things ruin a morning quite like encountering ancient dairy gunk while try to sip my morning cuppa. That this mug is a big 18 oz and keeps tea so hot I have to toss an ice cube in to be able to drink it without burning my tongue as soon as I get to work is also fabulous, but I'm in it for the easy clean. Every bit is accessible, and so cleanable. Do keep in mind that the easier a travel mug is to clean, the less leak-proof it is, so keep this mug upright and keep it out of flailing range in the office. If you want to be able to juggle your mug and not have any liquid come out this one isn't for you, but if you're commuting in a car with cupholders like I do, you shouldn't have any problems.
Customer Review: Best Tumbler/Mug I've Ever Had Summary: 5 Stars
I've tried so many different kinds of drink tumblers for the car that I've lost count. For some reason I bought two of these and I'm so glad I did, they're great. Many tumblers sweat so bad when filled with ice cubes that I have to keep napkins at the bottom of the holder and a towel in my lap. If I find a mug that doesn't sweat, the insulation makes it so huge that it has a hard time fitting in the drink holder.
The Nissan has never sweat once. I fill it with ice at 6am on my way to work, refill it from the office water cooler all day, and when I get home at 7pm that night I've still got some of the same ice still in the tumbler that I left with that morning...AMAZING!!! I have a hard time getting excited about many things, but this stupid tumbler makes my 1-1/2hr drive every am & pm a bit nicer. Thanks Thermos...
