Customer Review: The Perfect Bottle For Keeping Things Cold
Summary: 5 Stars

My father had gotten a similar bottle over a year ago, and I have always been on the lookout for a good-quality water bottle that I can take anywhere. My one complaint with all bottles I've owned in the past is that they all built up a lot of condensation and subsequently did not hold their temperature very well. I live in Central Florida, and it can get very hot and humid here. I am also outside for long periods of time, and needed a bottle that would hold it's cool for a long time.

After a lot of review, I decided to buy a DIFFERENT bottle. I bought this: CamelBak BPA-Free Better Bottle with Bite Valve It was a clear blue bottle with a bite-grip top and BPA Free design. I loved it, and used it for a year. The problem was, after less than an hour, all the ice I had put in it went away. That was no good.

So I looked around and remembered my father's water bottle. I decided to bite the bullet and buy it online. I found this, bought it, and had it shipped. It arrived promptly, and I decided to test it out. I had to make sure I would not run into the same problems I ran into before.

I filled the bottle halfway up with ice, and the rest with water. I then placed it in my car (the interior of which is black leather) and let it sit in the car. For five hours. From 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In July. When I came back to my car, the interior of the car was blazing hot. The thermometer said it was 105 degrees Fahrenheit outside. The metal bottle felt a little warm to the touch, and I got scared. There was no condensation in the cup holder, and I hoped for the best. When I lifted up the bottle, to my amazement, I heard rattling around inside. Sure enough, there were still pieces of ICE inside the bottle! I took a sip, and it was just as cold as when I filled it up. I was amazed.

The bottle (obviously) holds its temperature very well, and the design is very sleek. It does not hold a LOT of water, but holds a decent amount so that you won't drink it all at once. The cap design is one that obviously is meant to hold heat well, with a rubber insulation seal under the cap itself. The metal can get a bit hot in the heat, but there is a rubber grip around the bottle, so that wasn't a huge issue. And of course, the inside stays as cool as ever. The mouthpiece extends a bit, which is nice, as I didn't need to stick my mouth straight up the end.

I have not tried it with heat, so I cannot comment, but I'm sure it would hold the morning coffee as hot as ever.

So to recap, here are the positives and negatives of the product:

Positives:
- Holds liquid temperatures VERY stable for a VERY long period of time
- No condensation build up
- Sleek design fits in any standard cup holder
- No metallic taste to the liquid

Negatives:
- Only holds 18-ounces. Not a problem for me, may be a problem for some who like to carry a lot of water with them

Overall, this is a great product that really does what it says. It holds its temperature better than any other bottle I've ever owned, and for me, that is all that matters. This product is very slick and holds a decent amount of water, and has a great design. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone who would like to keep their beverages cold or hot for a lot period of time.

Customer Review: Best Amazon purchase ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I put ice in it in the evening to see how long it would last - 24 hours later, there was still ice in it! This is great for my 5-yr old, who had no problems opening the top and drinking from it. It's a great size for a backpack or large handbag, and it has been leak proof. You open the top to drink by pushing the button with one hand (very convenient), and the lid has a mechanism that prevents it from flopping over and hitting your nose when you tip the bottle to drink. The Thermos holds 18-oz of water, which is just a tad bigger than your typical 16.9-oz water bottle. The size may be too small for some, but my office has a fridge where I keep a Culligan water purifier pitcher, which allows me to refill throughout the day. Cleaning this Thermos is very easy using a bottle brush (You can find them in the baby section).

This water bottle beats the heck out of all the other water bottles I've used - Nalgene, Camelbak, et. al., as it does not sweat, does not leave rings on desks, and does not make my other stuff in my bag wet. Before I had this bottle, I would freeze water in my Camelbak the night before and hope for a "slow melt" the next day. Then I'd schedule my day to refresh my ice before the cafeteria closed. Now I can leave the Thermos at work and am still ensured leftover ice the next day. Also feeling great that reusable bottles such as this does not contribute to the landfill. I don't even buy bottled water anymore.

Update Aug 09: I took this on a no-shower, no-running water camping trip this past weekend with my family, and the Thermos was fantastic keeping water cool. I don't think I could have survived this primitive camp trip with a regular plastic water bottle that would have gotten the water warm the first couple of hours. It was a lifesaver in the summer heat. I bought a bottle for each family member, so we all had cold water to drink throughout the three-day trip.

Update Sept 09: This continues to be my all-time, best Amazon purchase ever! I am updating to let you know that you have to be careful about the blue silicone ring embedded in the cap. When you twist the cap onto the bottle, the silicon presses onto the lip of the bottle and is what keeps the Thermos leakproof. Be careful when you wash it to ensure it doesn't fall out, and ensure that the silicone ring is firmly placed in the cap before you screw it onto the bottle. I hadn't checked one day and had leakage when I tried to drink from it. I unscrewed the cap and found that the silicone ring wasn't firmly in place. After pushing it so it lay flat against the cap (which took no effort at all), all was fine with the world again. This only happened to me once in 90+ days of daily washing. I still highly recommend, as it is the best water bottle that I have found on the market.

Customer Review: Perfect Hydration Bottle
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife thinks I am crazy because I get excited about beverage containers of all types. Of late, I've been searching for nice water bottles. I've tried the Tritan plastic types, aluminum SIGG bottles, and recently some stainless steel bottles. Well, of all the ones I have bought and used, the Thermos 18oz Stainless Steel Hydration Bottle is the absolute best. I'll tell you why.

PROS:
- Double-walled stainless steel
- Easy to grip silicone grip
- Easy to open sipper lid
- Spill-proof seal
- Fits in car cup holders
- Great price

CONS:
- Silicone grip gets linty/dusty

The Thermos water bottle is perfect. The double wall stainless steel makes it sweat-proof, making it safe for you to rest the bottle on surfaces without worrying about leaving water rings. Say goodbye to coasters. It also allows the beverage to stay cool longer. Thermos recommends cool beverages such as water, ice tea, juices and sports drinks. Inside the bottle, Thermos included a small note that states, "CAUTION: Do not use this product for hot beverages. Hot beverages may scald user. Never drink hot beverages directly from bottle." I have used stainless steel bottles before that were not double walled and really disliked them. I could almost taste the steel and the bottle would constantly sweat.

The lid can be opened easily with one hand and shuts just as easily. If you use it in the car, it will fit in nearly all cup holders. The sipper portion of the lid is wide enough to allow an ample amount of liquid to come through and is rounded well so that it doesn't scrape your mouth or lips. I have some Tritan Nalgene bottles with a similar sip design but the plastic is unfinished and rough so drinking from it isn't quite as enjoyable.

The bottle top is easily washed and a good bottle brush is recommended for the body. It comes with a 5 year warranty. As a side note, the sticky label that Thermos used on the bottle to advertise the features removed very easily without having to use Goo Gone or similar. The only thing I could come up with as a CON was that the silicone grip can get a bit dusty or linty, but I really don't care all that much. A silicone bottom might have been nice to keep the bottle from sliding around too.

I drink water all day long and fill the 18 ounce bottle probably 4 times a day and the water stays cold between fills. The Thermos is perfect and my favorite hydration bottle thus far. I feel bad for my other water bottles. I won't buy another brand water bottle.

Customer Review: I use this 5 times a day!

I read a ton of reviews and after finally deciding the 18 oz was the right size
I went ahead and bought this. I have not been let down. It keeps drinks cold cold cold.
I haven't used it for hot drinks. It says NOT to use this for hot drinks but it isn't
because the thermos CAN'T do hot, it is because the company doesn't want customer
to burn themselves and sue them. You can do this with hot or cold. I have used ice cubes
to test how long they last overnight and they lasted once about 12 hours. I didn't pre cool
the thermos i just dumped cubes in the thermos and put my drink in and when I woke up the next morning
at 10am checked it and was still cold but no ice cubes. Most of the time I'm chugging water down
before the ice can even melt. I have taken it to the beach in the hot sun and the outside will be
hot but the contents will still be cold. When i put ice in it i fill up the liquid, drink it, and
fill it up with other liquids and I have cooled about 5 drinks with one thermos of ice. and I left them
in the sun partly as well (still on the beach). Pop cap does seem like over time it might get worn
and not work like new but I am just careful with it and it pops like new (2 weeks old). There is a latch
when you pop the top all the way back that the lid will stick and won't fall back into your face when you lift the thermos back to take a drink. My finger usually blocks this but since I noticed it I have adjusted my popping technique. The screw top is perfect to fill your cup. no complaints from putting ice or contents into the thermos at all. I do wish this was 24 oz and a little wider. I did worry before I bought it that it wouldn't fit into my cup holder (LS430) and I wanted to buy the other thermos model that has the yellow bottom thingy with more oz but I couldn't find it at target (just on their website) to see it in person and order it here. Plus amazon didn't have it in stock, would have taken weeks to get. So I went with this one for ~16$ free shipping and I haven't looked back. Lastly back to the cup holder debacle, if I have it full and I turn left or right with a little speed the thermos will tip a little bit getting a "leaning tower" action going on. It doesn't fly out but if I gun it a little more I'm sure it will, which is distracting when driving to be wondering where you drink is going to go inside your car. So sometimes I put it on the passenger seat and pop the top with ease to grab a drink. Good job thermos.

Customer Review: Great for cold beverages
Summary: 5 Stars

This WAS my favorite insulated bottle. It keeps my water or iced tea cold. It fits in a car cupholder. It is stainless rather than plastic (besides the lid). Opening/closing the lid for a drink is a single-handed operation. The rubber grip is nice, but the lack of one would not detract from the bottle, as far as I am concerned. There is only one lid to unscrew to fill or clean the bottle. I am careful about not straining the hinge when I screw or unscrew the lid, but have not had any issues with it...just being cautious with what I perceive could be a weak point. I am also careful to keep track of the blue gasket in the lid...other reviewers indicate it may be difficult to replace. It fell out once while I was washing it. I only hand wash it. It has never leaked on me, no matter how it ended up oriented in my backpack.

So what more could I want? The same features in a bottle that can be used for hot drinks. This bottle is strictly for cold drinks. I don't take off for that because there is no attempt in the advertising to mislead you into thinking it is suitable for hot drinks.

Nissan does have a solution for me: the backpack bottle Thermos Nissan 16 Ounce Stainless Steel Backpack Bottle, Smoke Color. That is, if you can find it in stock. It has the same advantages as the hydration bottle, AND works for hot drinks. I found some with logos screened on them available for immediate shipment for less than $25.

If you want an insulated bottle for only cold drinks, this bottle is the way to go. It's less expensive and more readily available than the backpack bottle. Check the prices at your local drugstores and Walmart before ordering it, you may get a better price.
