Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Thermos Nissan 14-Ounce Leak-Proof Travel Mug, SmokeCustomer Review: Best I've ever run across. Summary: 5 Stars
I run a line-haul and had used the same coffee cup/thermos for years and it worked fine, plus it was stable and in a moving vehicle that's a factor. I'd've gotten another of 'em but Stanley'd quit makin' 'em.
After buying about two dozen different thermos type so called insulated mugs I was thinkin' that I could just pull one apart (anyone'd do, they were all the same), shoot some expanding foam insulation into it and re-seal it. That way, I might have a cup that kept coffee hot long enough for me to actually get about a half cup of better'n tepid joe. One of the main problems for all of 'em (other than that they're cheap and don't work all that well) is that the lid's never insulated.
Thermos Nissan (where'd that come from) has got the best travel mug I've ever been able to find. Actually, I can't think of a way it could be improved without resorting to an electric cup that heats the coffee and I haven't seen any of the electric cups, heat pads or inserts either work well or last at all. This can't be made better. Pour in boiling water and twenty minutes later the outside's still room temperature. I've actually experimented with it in the truck and have found that, if you leave it sealed, you can still have sippin' hot coffee about an hour and a half later.
This thing is well made, you can't dribble coffee on you when you drink from it and, ta-da, the lid's insulated. Well worth the money for personal use and makes a great gift. I've bought two more since I bought mine for presents and'll buy a couple more for this Christmas. Can't go wrong with this one.
Customer Review: Finally a mug that REALLY does NOT leak :o) However.... Summary: 5 Stars
I should have thought and measured out how much 14 ounces is. I thought this would be a bit larger. It holds as much as an extra large coffee mug. That's fine, though. Maybe they don't even make bigger ones? Maybe I need to stop drinking so much coffee! LOL!
The quality of the mug is EXCELLENT and the smoke color is nice and doesn't show fingerprints. I really like the handle and the mug fits perfectly in the vehicle drink holders. I haven't used the clip that comes with it. Not sure what you'd clip it to...backpack or bicycle, maybe? The lip on the lid is really nice to sip from and no coffee pools in the lid. Stainless steel is awesome, because I don't have to worry about health issues (from plastic leaching) and my coffee tasting like plastic, PLUS the coffee stays much hotter than it would in a plastic travel mug. The rubber grip around the middle comes off for washing. I am not sure if the mug can go in the dishwasher...I'll have to read the reviews and description again. So far, I've just washed it by hand.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with this mug...unless it were bigger! ;o)
Customer Review: Best Travel Mug Ever!! Summary: 5 Stars
Whenever I loose one of these I am compelled to buy another. I have used this mug for at least five years. It is the best because:
>Keeps hot stuff hot for hours (especially when you tighten the lid)
>Is positively spill proof when the lid is on tight (useful for a multi-tasker like me in the AM when I am juggling multiple items on my way to the car)
>The carabiner clip is ideal for hooking this on a backpack (don't forget to tighten the lid)
>The handle is perfectly contoured for comfortable holding (further enhanced by the rubberized handle)
>It fits perfectly in a car cup holder
>It doesn't dribble on me when I "drink and drive" as other mugs have done when I tilt them back to take a sip
>The design of smoked brushed metal with rubberized accents is very elegant (not to mention a smooth flowing shape)
>The inside is metal, making a boiling water rinse before filling with coffee, an easy way to assure a nice hot cup of joe
Starbucks does not sell coffee, they sell a "coffee experiance"--with this mug, I can now have a coffee experiance in my
Customer Review: Best Travel Mug Ever Summary: 5 Stars
Over the years, our family has used dozens of travel mugs. We've had cheap "vendor-ware" mugs, mugs purchased from coffee stores and gifts. The common thread is that they can leak, and/or dribble on your chin while drinking.
Then came the Thermos-Nissan Leak-Proof Travel mug. And it works! The clever design of using a screw in plug in lieu of a lid solves all of the problems. When you're not drinking, screw in the lid, and your drink CAN'T BE SPILLED. Shake it, drop it, throw it around, and you won't lose a drop. When you're ready to drink, unscrew it half a turn, and sip. And no drips! Unlike most travel mugs, there is no seam right above your chin to leak!
And it keeps your drink hot for hours. Just put in some hot water, let it sit for 30 seconds (to warm up the metal interior), dump it out, and pour in your drink!
I'm been using these mugs for about 4 years (unfortunately lost one, and had to buy another), and I am still as happy as the first day I bought one. My wife liked it so much, that she got one too!
Customer Review: Great Travel Mug Summary: 5 Stars
Like many commuters, I've tried various mugs. Some were better than others, but I've never come across a travel mug I would classify as great - until now. This one has an intelligent design that puts it way above other travel mugs I have tried. The screw-on cap can create a very tight seal. Be careful about screwing on the top too tight - it can be a bit hard to unscrew. However, if you need a really tight seal (say you were throwing this into a backpack), it's available. A couple of turns will open up the top while leaving the cap loosely attached, and you are ready to drink. You can decide how big an opening you need. The oval lip of the mug has a slight groove which channels the liquid into a manageable stream for drinking. The mug will keep liquids quite hot for some time, although I usually drink my coffee fairly quickly once in the car, so I haven't tested this out too much.
All-in-all I am thrilled with this purchase and would highly recommend this travel mug.
