Customer Review: Everything I dared hope for in a thermal mug.

I've never felt this way about a thermal mug before, but when I first laid eyes on this mug, I knew my long search was over. This mug delivers as promised, and has everything that I value.

A few words on getting the most out of this product.
As my pictures show, it is a bit cumbersome to clean. Get a bottle brush and clean it thoroughly as soon as you are done with it. I use this mug exclusively for teas with NO milk.
The seal is superbly tight -- I can hold this over my head when closed and have no fear of getting drenched. The seal forms SO well that when you unscrew the mug for your first sip, you will probably hear a little pop.
I usually get about 3 hours of "hot", with up to 6 hours of "warm". Cold lasts much longer (as long as 6 hours of "icy" with another 4 hours of "cool".
You can extend the length of the thermal retention by "priming" the mug in advance with hot or cold. While my tea is steeping in the morning, I pour boiling hot water into the mug to start the heat retention. If you close the flow after each sip, you will probably extend temperature retention for even longer.
I expect to use this for years to come. At this point, I've been using it 4 or 5 times a week for 6 months, and have no complaints.

I have had countless travel mugs over the years, most of which I use for a few months and then shove them to the back of the cupard after they are replaced by another "cool looking" mug. This mug was one of those "cool looking" mugs. Saw it while shopping in Target, thought it looked ruggedly cool, so I bought it without really expecting too much.
Wow, was I ever surprised. This mug rocks! You put hot coffee in it in the morning and you still have hot coffee in the afternoon, and I mean HOT, not luke warm. I have never had a mug that insulates anywhere near as good as this mug.
The second thing about this mug that I really like is the "leak proof" lid. Now I know there are countless products out there that make claims of being "leak proof", but few (if any) rarely live up to that claim. This one does!! I trust the lid on this mug so much that I will fill it with coffee in the morning, close the lid, and then throw it in my bag with no regard if the lid is pointing up like it was a pair of socks. It is truly as leak proof as any Nalgene bottle.
Speaking of the lid, it works by loosening it counter-clockwise and half-rotation, then you can began sipping, and it doesn't matter where you put your mouth at on the lid (there is no specific hole that you drink from). Now that is cool.
Since buying this purchase I have also bought the thermos and plan on getting the tumbler. You will not be disappointed in this mug.

Is it possible to find faults with this mug? Judging by some reviews, yes, it is.
Being realistic, however, this is one great mug. Do you want something that will keep your drink hot for hours? This is it. Do you want something that will definitely not spill? This is it.
This morning, my son made coffee in the coffee maker at about 5:00 a.m., before leaving for work. He put mine in the Thermax. When I found it and began drinking it at about 9:00 a.m., it was still hot enough that I did not have to reheat it. If you preheat the mug with hot water, coffee (or anything else) will stay hot much longer.
I have used it in the car (where it does not fit into a cup holder), and it has stayed hot - and has not leaked when tipped - for hours. I can leave the house with hot coffee, drive for a few hours, and then begin drinking. I can drink from any spot along the rim, rather than just out of a small opening. To get "the very last drop," the mug must be almost completely inverted, but that's OK because it holds 16 ounces, and I can do without the last 1/2 oz, if necessary.
It is stainless inside and out, so it will not absorb tastes and odors, and it has a large base and a sturdy handle.
If you want a high quality mug that will retain the temperature and not leak, this is the mug for you.

We originally stumbled upon the Thermos E10500 16oz travel mugs as a last resort while trying to find a mug that would keep our coffee good and hot for a while.... However, we were very pleasantly surprised to find that these particular mugs keep hot liquids hotter for a much longer period of time... not just warm.. but hot!! they also keep cold liquids colder for a super-super long time too... Plus the lids tighten for a complete seal so the liquid cannot spill out if the mug is tipped over.. We had tried every single travel type mug on the market and these were about the last ones we were going to try because they are pricey... at $19.99 each, that's a bit more than we wanted to spend.. but after using these mugs for a while, we found out that we could not go back to any other type.... So if you really enjoy your coffee or tea or hot chocolate hot for about 4 to 6 hours (or cold stuff kept cold)... invest a little extra and buy yourself an early Christmas or Birthday present... I don't think you will be disappointed !!! Just remember... this is not just the Thermos brand, but it is the Thermos E10500 16oz Travel Mug... we tried several other Thermos brands and they are not the same as this model... in fact, non of the other models (or brands) even comes close to this model...

This has to be the best mug I has every purchased! I drink about 2 16on cups of green tea a day and my previous mug had a big top and small bottom. When working I would contantly knock it over and it would spill on my desk. My old mug had a little hole up top you have to drink from and when I would close it the opening was alwaus awkwardly at the handle.
NOT THIS MUG! no, this mug is amazing. The handle it sturdy and will not bend, meaning I do not have to worry about the handle every breaking. You have a full 360 degrees to drink from and no little hole you have to drink out of. The insullation is amazing, it keeps my tea warm all day. In fact some days i have to add ice just to cool it down a little! It comes with a key ring to attack to your backpack or your belt if you are hiking! with a wide bottom it doesn't fit into your car cup holder but it will never tip over like mosy mugs tend to do.
The only downside I have experienced is that it is not and ideal steeping mug for tea. You have to kind of shove the tea bag in there but it is no big deal. The pros outweight the cons by miles!
I suggest you buy this today and you will never, ever need anothe rmug!
