This is an awesome thermos. I warm it with hot tap water while I wait for my tea water to boil or my coffee to brew. I leave for work at 7:40, and I still have hot water or coffee in the afternoon. After pouring from the thermos after lunch, I heard a student in the back of the room whisper, "It's steaming!" as the waves of heat arose from the cup.
Comparison to the sister of this thermos, the Leak-Proof Hydration Bottle: The "leak-proof" bottle looks similar to this thermos, but the lid is a flip-top with a spout for drinking. Because the flip-top bottle has a rubber vent on the top, I have found that it is not leak proof, and the beverages don't stay quite as hot as the liquids in the thermos above.
THIS thermos with the traditional screw-on thermos top IS WATERPROOF. The cap, by the way, does not need to be fully unscrewed for pouring.
This thermos has taken a lot of abuse. Still, it is leak-free and keeps beverages HOT. It fits easily in my book bag. I have abandoned other thermoses and use this one exclusively.
