I bought this as a christmas gift for my cousin and his family. He has 2 little girls. At the time he was in the middle of building a home theater in his basement. I thought this might make a great addition to his new project. It did, they loved it. The best part for me though was wrapping the huge box that it came in for christmas and then seeing everyones face when it came time for him to unwrap it. We ordered this (in black) a few weeks ago and have used several times. I think we paid a little more for the color, but got free shipping and I'm all about that!!!
I was a little surprised by how small the machine is, however, that does mean it will take up less space. The only drawback to the small size comes when putting the corn and oil in. We bought the pre-measured packs and it's hard to manuever your hands beneath the top without touching the prewarmed kettle. I will probably switch to unmixed ingredients next time.
It seems to be constructed well and pops enough popcorn for a family of 5. Pops quickly.
I will say that, if i were going to do it all over again, I would get the model CCP509. It's red and pops the same amount of corn, but, the dimensions are a little larger and that may give the hands some more room. I think it may be a tad bit cheaper too.
Just remember, you are NOT getting the big commercial machines here. These pop 4 oz. of corn not 8. The other models are goign to be larger, but generally prices twice as high too.
Oh, this is top heavy, be careful when rolling it. My 4 year old wants to know when we are going to go out and ride the popcorn machine, but seriously, I almost dumped it over the first time I started to roll it into another room. Don't let the kids play with it!!!
