Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Moving Men 1545-12 8-Piece Furniture Slider SetCustomer Review: Great Moving Men Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these little helpers because recently, my laptop became a combination of a desktop and laptop when the monitor on the laptop started to go haywire. Well, I had to buy a separate monitor for the computer and then decided to get a keyboard and use this little two "story" table to hold this stuff. I have the laptop on the bottom shelf and then the monitor on the top. Well, since the table is rough wood and didn't slide around too easily, I thought of buying wheels for it and then something of this nature came to mind. All of the other ones I looked at seemed too small or had adhesive on the bottom. These little ones are perfect and this table slides across the room, (really away from my couch), wildly now and with hardly any effort involved. I had fun with the bigger ones and actually stood on them and had my friend try to push me across the carpet. Hey, at 46 you gotta have some kid-like fun on occasion! Anyhow, I highly recommend this product. I know we will get use out of the large ones as well and they will be used for more than my goofy fun around the house. So, I'm actually using the smaller ones under the legs of the table permanently so I can move the computer to and fro. It took less than a minute to get them into place as the top area is a foam like substance and the legs rest on it perfectly. These are wonderful items!!
Customer Review: Fabulous little helpers, read advise Summary: 5 Stars
I love these sliders. I bought them because I had some experience with my Mom's set and they are so worth it! Because I'm not a jerk like the reviewers who gave them only one star, I knew in advance that I shouldn't use these on bare floors because plastic is HARD. Yes, it actually is hard. My suggestion is to use these only on carpets and rugs and not smooth floors unless you know with absolute certainty there is not a speck of grit on your floors. Of course, this is how they're advertised by the maker, but you still have to tell folks. Okay, back to the sliders. I have no one to help me move my very heavy oak desk and once I got these puppies under each corner, I had no problems whatsoever. I also have two 7 foot high book cases and again, the larger sliders are perfect. The little ones I use for a teak wood coffee table, more to save the legs from stress, as the table is very old. It beats hiring someone to help with moving furniture.
Customer Review: Man's second best friend Summary: 5 Stars
I have an 8 foot pool table with 1" slate. It weighs between 6 and 7 hundred pounds and doesn't get used as much as it did at first. The pool table sits on a berber type carpet.I was trying to figure out a way to move it closer to the wall for more room when not in use, but it is impossible to move by myself. After seeing these on Amazon I thought I would give them a try.I used a floor jack to lift one end of the table, then carefully positioned the larger disc under each leg with the original shims in between the bottom of the leg and the disc to keep it level.I then did the other end and checked the table to see if it was still sitting solid on the floor and it was. Finally I pushed on one end of the table at a time to move it off to the side and it worked better than I expected.I'm not sure how the other brands would work but the Moving Men definitely worked better than my expectations. I would highly recommend this product.
Customer Review: Will wonders never cease? Summary: 5 Stars
I had a massive wall unit to move. It is tall, awkward and heavy. The idea of moving it with a friend who had a weak back didn't sound promising. After reading some of the reviews for this product I purchased it. The wall unit breaks down to three sections with the ends weighing 100lbs and the center weighing 300lbs. I slid four large discs under each corner of one of the ends and pulled with a 90 degree twisting motion to the left then to the right. It moved with ease. When I reached a doorway, I needed to tilt it. I simply allowed the top to lower towards me while maintaining contact with two of the large pads. Again I slid with the left-right motion and easily cleared the doorway. At that point I returned the unit to the upright position, returned the two other large pads and positioned near the wall. I had equal success with the 300lb center. I was truly amazed.
Customer Review: Makes rearranging furniture easy Summary: 5 Stars
My husband told me we would never be able to move our living room furniture, since we have a very heavy 32-inch TV. But it was incredibly easy with the moving men. The hardest part was getting them underneath the entertainment center; that involved him lifting each corner and me wedging a moving man into place. Once that was done, we (he) moved it easily- and keep in mind the entire entertainment center is at least 300 pounds. We have carpet, and I wouldn't recommend this for anyone with tile or hardwood floor.
We keep two of the moving men permanently underneath the entertainment center (in the back where they can't be seen) so that the next time I want to move furniture around will be easy. That still leaves me with two of the large moving men and four smaller ones to move other furniture around. It's a great buy.
