I absolutely love these sweepers. They make my life so much easiers. Best price found on the web too.
Customer Review: 5 stars at first; 3 stars 1 year later Summary: 4 Stars
I have a 1 year old, a 3 year old and two cats. As you can imagine there are food crumbs, cat fur, cat litter and little outside dirt/stuff on my floors through out the day. I have a large house with a lot of tile, stairs and my kitty litter box is upstairs on carpet.
I really needed something to quickly and easily get the visible stuff off my floors so it was presentable throughout the day and I didn't another cheerio stuck to my foot!
One Year ago, I purchased this from the Swivel Sweeper website and received two sweepers. One I put upstairs for the kitty litter clean up as well as the bathrooms, laundry room and a quick carpet clean up. The other does the heavy lifting down stairs. At the time I bought this I had a newborn and loved that I could hold her in one hand, and easily use the Swivel. Although my then 2 year old could do a great job all on his own and often cleaned up after our meals.
Even now a year later, these products do a TERRIFIC job (with one exception noted below) ~ specifically on tile/hardwood. I am so happy with this products ability to clean up the little and big messes throughout the day.
- Cleans quickly
- The swivel head makes this very easy to use and get around everything.
- Cleans edges very well
- Gets up big pieces like cheerios and little crumbs (like crushed cheerios)
- I don't have any problems with scatter. Of course there's a bit sometimes, but so little it's not anything to complain about!
- My cat box is on carpet and I've been very happy with the job this does picking up the litter between big vacuums
- Tray dumping - others have complained about this and frankly I don't see why. If you pick it up and tip the head it it will dump some things out. So just pay attention when you pick it up.
- Ease of use - GREAT. Just grab it, turn it on and go
- The little rubber on the handle top. What a great idea. Really let's me store this easily without it falling over.
- They come with a little tool to remove anything that wraps around the brushes - like cat hair. I use this a couple times a year and it works great.
- Yes, it does feel a bit flimsy at first, but I really appreciate the light-weight design and everything has held up really well.
- Battery life was great at the beginning and for the first 6 months or so.
Hardwood/Tile - This thing is a rockstar. Its the only thing I use on a daily basis.
Carpet - Realize this isn't a vacuum cleaner or a carpet cleaner, this is a surface cleaner. It surface cleans great. I don't use my Dyson everyday, but I absolutely use my Swivel every day and my house is cleaner for it. It gets under my Coffee Table and other places that my Dyson can't unless using the attachments.
EXCEPTION: The battery no longer holds a charge. After about 6 months I realize it wasn't lasting as long, but since I had two batteries it wasn't a big deal. However, now neither battery holds a charge so I can only clean the smallest of messes. It stops working immediately on the carpet. So I need to buy a new battery. It might be normal for cordless vacuums to need a replacement battery 1x per year.
Customer Review: Does exactly what you would expect it to do! Summary: 4 Stars
Hi - I have a G2 up in my small house. I live alone at this time so I decided that I wouldn't make big messes or drop stuff. I basically need to clean my floors 2 times a month - once with the "swivel" on my quick clean day AND once with my $150 vacuum that is no longer in production so I maintain it myself. I only wear slippers in the house. Occasionally, a few crumbs drop on the floor or small paper pieces evade my shredder. Totally understandable. At my 2 week point, I swivel sweep rooms in use - first emptying the unit to make sure I start "fresh." After I run the unit through the kitchen, main room, bathroom, hallway (small), and "postage stamp" entranceway, I empty the sweeper AND I AM AMAZED at the amount of stuff that was picked up. The reason I am amazed is that I initially emptied the unit before sweeping. I allowed any and all previous clippings to to fall out AND then shake the unit so that I hear no more discharge. Now I empty it upon this next use and the amount of sound that the clippings make as the fall into the trash bag assures me that it has done a good job of getting whatever there was on my carpets and linoleum floors.
Look - I wouldn't expect a small car to tow a trailer - no matter what I am told. I wouldn't expect an automatic can opener that cost $25 to open 30,000 cans - no matter what I am told. I wouldn't expect a netbook computer to handle high-end digital photography editing - no matter what I am told. I have common sense and pretty much can figure what I can get out of a smaller, lower-end piece of equipment. I don't expect this $35 sweeper to do what a $450 vacuum would be capable of. I'm not a moron. I have been more than pleased with the performance of this sweeper.
The only reason I rate it four stars instead of five is the rechargeable battery. Basically, I use the unit "fully" only once a month AND I keep the battery charged. I maybe use the sweeper three other times a month for small "localized" pick-ups in my high traffic areas - an example would be under the small dining table OR the carpet patch by the kitchen sink / stove area. The battery should last me at least three years - considering the price you pay per battery. I don't leave it constantly charging - only at night - and probably three times a week so that I don't overcharge it.
Oh - there is one more thing - the unit will not pick up anything that has very little weight. For instance - when I would swivel sweep my son's room (way back when) in out other house, it did not like to pick up small feather pieces that would make their way out of his pillows. You could stand there and try different directions, different parts of the bristle area (there are four sides of moving bristles), but the unit is not successful with this type of substance.
I hope this has been hopeful.
