I have had a Sunbeam Hot Shot in my kitchen for years and given many of them for gifts. We use it almost daily. All it does is heat a mugful of water to boiling. We use it for instant coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate mixes, spiced cider, instant oatmeal, ramen noodle soups and just about anything else that all you have to do is all hot water to. We have worn out several but they do last for years. This is one of our most used appliances and an excellent gift.Customer Review: Wow, for being so simple, this thing is cool

Our water quality at work sucks, so I drink bottled water. For tea, I didn't want to mess around with the microwave, so this thing fits the bill perfectly. Plus, it's SOOO fast. About 60 seconds. A 16.9 oz bottle fits perfectly in the fill area.
Only thing I would want different is perhaps a kind of spout so that I could fill a big mug directly from the hot shot. Right now I just use a small styrofoam cup and pour that into my big mug.

This has been a life saver. You measure the amount of water you need heated pour it in and it heats it so fast. We use it for tea, hot cocoa, oatmeal. Works great if you are in a hurry or do not want to deal with heating on stove. I plan on buying one for the older members of my family. If they fall asleep on the couch while watching a movie, they won't set the house on fire-it heats the water and then turns itself off.
A bargain for the price.

I've had my Hot Shot for five years now and it's still going strong. I use it to heat water for tea, oatmeal, etc and it works wonderfully. I just bought one for my mother, who loved mine when she visited (it's also nice because she no longer has to worry about her tea pot boiling dry and potentially starting a fire). Great product. Super hot water in 60 seconds, and if you hold the button down you can make it boiling water in another 10 seconds.Customer Review: Fast and easy

I got one as my birthday gift and I didnt expect it to be so lovely! The water is ready during the time I am putting tea leaves into the mug. The water is just enought to fill two small cups or 1.5 larger ones. I totally agree with the guy below, one is not enought. I bought another one for my office.
However...
It is kind of low so any mug or container taller than 5" wont fit in. It is only designed for small ones I guess.
