I've owned a Hot Shot since 1982. Excellent product. Heats up to two cups of water very fast. Puts microwave to shame. The only thing you have to watch is that the heating element can burn out if you don't have water in the Hot Shot. So, if you only plug it in when you want to use it, I recommend having the water in before you do that. Sometimes, you hit the "heat" button in the course of working around it, so the "heat" light will come on as soon as you plug it in. If so, unplug immediately, add water and re-plug. Other than that, they last forever.Customer Review: No college Dorm or Office Cubicle should be without It!!!

The Sunbeam Hot Shot is the absolute best when it comes to quickly boiling water for hot chocolate, Top Ramen, coffee and tea. A cup of water boils in 45 seconds. Unlike boiling water in a microwave, the cup doesn't heat up and there is no danger of the cup exploding due to the microwaves intense heating of water. Plus, it doesn't take up any space and you can store it when not in use. This would make a great gift for the college student in the dorm or the office jockey who is too busy to leave his or her desk to make a quick cup of anything...Customer Review: My Soldier Loves It!

I sent this to my son when he was stationed in Afghanistan last winter. (He is with a medical unit, so they had power in their tent.) He LOVED it! Said it was such a luxury to have hot water that quickly, especially when they would come in from missions and were so cold that all they could think of was hot chocolate! It was such a touch of home that he left it when he rotated back to the U.S. so their replacements could enjoy it. I'm sending him another one now, to his new duty station in Iraq...those desert nights can get really cold!Customer Review: A fantastic product.--simple and fast!

I am not a big fan of specialty appliances, but this is definitely a "must have". It boils water in about 20 seconds, so there are endless beverage uses for it(tea, hot chocolate, etc...). But I've also found TONS of other times it has come in handy. I've used it to make instant oatmeal almost every day for the last three years! It still heats the water as quickly as the day we got it. The machine itself is slim and only takes up a minimal amount of counter space. Now that I've had one, I know I couldn't do without it.Customer Review: Wouldn't be without it

I love my Hot Shot. I bought the first one back in the "80's" and it looked it. Last year I moved that one upstairs to the media room and bought a new one for the kitchen. A couple recently saw me using the new one and the husband asked me about it. He thought it was great so I decided to buy them one. To my surprise, I couldn't find one anywhere. Now they are back in stock on Amazon (at a higher price). I truly hope these won't be a thing of the past. I use it at least a couple of times every day for tea.
