I have used the Sunbeam Hot Shot for so many years I can't even tell you exactly how many. Now my two daughters use the Hot Shot as well. Both my daughters are teachers and now not only have a Hot Shot in their homes but also have one in their classrooms as well. I had to replace the one for my one daughter this Christmas because her son decided to use it with milk... A complete disaster! Although she knew this was a no-no, he didn't. Needless to say, we had to replace the Hot Shot. I was soooo glad that Sunbeam is still making the Hot Shot. We certainly couldn't do without it.Customer Review: Sunbeam Hot Shot

I bought a hot shot about twenty five years ago through the recommendation of a friend. They advertised it as being faster than a microwave and it is. I nursed my hot shot along for years having to constantly restrike the aging heating lever to get it to work. My wife finally threw it out. When I saw that Sunbeam was remanufacturing it, I immediately bought two. One as a gift for my parents. It works great! Just pay attention to the warnings: Never accidentally turn it on when there is no water in the chamber and only heat water in it. My parents bought me my first Hot Shot beverage machine while I was a freshman in college back in 1980. Using it virtually every day since, it lasted me until June of 2005! I finally fatigued the metal interior and it developed a small hairline crack. A pretty good value for 25 years of faithful service.
I immediately bought a new one. My only complaint with my new one is that it no longer has markings inside, like my old one did, to indicate how much water is in it. However, the new model holds a full two cups of water, whereas the old one held slightly less.

I've had mine for at least 5 years -- I keep it at my desk at work and use it 5 days a week at least once a day.
It provides me with hot water on demand -- boiling hot and ready for my tea or instant coffee.
And other than a pesky leak (after 4 years) which can be offset by lightly jiggling the dispense handle -- it works just fine and does what it's expected to.
It's also great to have at home by the kitchen sink to make hot water instead of leaving a pot to boil and then forgetting it, when you run off to work (aagh!)

I actually bought this Hot Shot for my mother's friend, who was very impressed by Mom's Hot Shot. We have used them for years, but they have been hard to find. A Hot Shot will heat up to 14 oz. of water in 90 seconds (I just measured and timed it.) It's perfect for tea, instant coffee, instant soup, etc., but a little too hot for instant cocoa (you can let it cool down or add a little cold water). I have an extra one on hand just in case, but my daughter will probably get it when she moves out. The Amazon price is very good. I highly recommend the Hot Shot.
