I got tired of having to microwave water for tea at work, so I bought the Sunbeam Hot Shot. Works better than I'd expected. Specifically, it makes water hot enough for tea (not coffee though) and it does it pretty quietly, which is great when you're working near other colleagues! If it were up to me I would have added a water gauge somewhere on the device and designed it so that you could put mugs taller than your standard sized ones under the dispenser. It cost me about $15, so I really can't complain.Customer Review: Works as advertised: Small reservoir, but heats hot water fine.

This device heats water fine. Put a tea bag in, press the level and soon enough you'll have a piping hot tea.
Better yet, the water only takes a minute or two to heat up.
If you keep this device turned on when little or no water is in the reservoir, you could smell burning and crackling! Almost like keeping a tea pot on the stove for too long!
Works as advertised, just realize it's only a hot water dispenser, and a quick and dirty solution for hot water.

I received the Hot Pot in June and was really happy with it. Made my tea water far faster than my micro-wave, so I thought if it makes water that fast I could make a cup of milk for my hot chocolate. WRONG I now have a pot with a scorched burner and have tried everything to clean it but no luck. Does anyone have any idea how to get this cleaned so I can go back to making water for my tea and forget the milk.
I will try anything, so just any input may help..thanks

i have had my hot shot for ten months. i absolutely love this thing. i drink so much more tea now since it's so easy and quick to heat up water. i gave this 3 stars because it doesn't feel sturdy to me, and i'm always holding my breath hoping it won't break. the top part is now tilted forward since using the dispenser button pulls the whole top section down. the water pools in the front and i have to tip it over into the sink to get all the water out that wouldn't dispense. so i love what it does, and the price is right... but i am pretty disappointed in the design.Customer Review: SUNBEAM HOT SHOT

I have owned a Hot shot in one version or another for about 20 yrs. I love this product and when my old one died I purchased a new one right away. I still use it daily but have found that the new one does not heat the water to the degree of hot the previous ones did. At times I find myself having to "zap" my tea in the micro to get it to the desired temp. This might just be my hot shot and not all of them so if you were thinking of getting one, I would still get it just know it might not get as hot as you would like it too.
