Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sunbeam 6131 Hot Shot Hot Water Dispenser, BlackCustomer Review: The Best Appliance That I Ever Purchased Summary: 5 Stars
Sunbeam 6131 Hot Shot Hot Water Dispenser, Black
I was first was introduced to the Hot Shop when visiting my daughter. It was fantastic and so quick and easy to use for hot tea, coffee, instant oatmeal. So the day after I flew home, I was buying my very own Hot Shot. I use it daily for hot drinks. I is also a great starter for making steel cuts oats, I heat the water in my Hot Shot fill my pan and we are eating a earlier than starting with a pot of cold water. I love it so much I bought one for my Mom's birthday and she loves it's and has gotten rid of her tea kettle! This is one super gift everyone needs they just don't know it yet!!!
Customer Review: Instant coffee to green tea...... Summary: 5 Stars
For at least the last 30 years every house in my family has had a Hot Shot in the kitchen. It is wonderful for coffee, tea, hot cocoa or instant soup or for that one cup of hot water for Jello. It heats in a flash. They are almost indestructable. After about a zillion cups heated it will start to not heat so well or minerals will cause it to leak a little but for the price it is amazing. I give them with a box of tea and a special cup as a gift. People are always amazed at how they lived without one. Sure you can heat water in a microwave but I would bet it takes significantly more electricity and usually a little more time. Why the white is so much more expensive than the black, could not guess. It is really a bargain.
Customer Review: Super Appliance However It Leaks Summary: 5 Stars
We had an older model white one for years and don't know how we ever got by without it. We grab coffee on the run or tea and it's perfect. Also good for those cup of soup things, hot chocolate or anytime you need a serving of REALLY fast hot water. It might take a minute or so which sure beats using the microwave or stove.
The black one we just got unfortunately leaks for some reason. I called Sunbeam and their customer service is awesome! They are sending out one for free and just said to throw the other one away. It still works though, so it's not hitting the trash until the new one arrives. My husband would have a fit if he couldn't make that quick cup of java at 5 AM before work. :)
Customer Review: Simple, efficient, and does what it says Summary: 5 Stars
I have had a version of the Sunbeam hot shot for many years (on my third one now). Not much to say except that it does what it says very well. Dump in a cup or two of water, punch the start button, and 60 seconds later it is boiling hot, ready to make coffee, tea, cocoa, or throw in the face of someone that is annoying you (although the latter is certainly not a recommended activity). The design has changed very little over the years, and I find this much safer and faster than using a microwave or stovetop. If you use yours a lot like I do, it does eventually wear out and begin to leak, but I got 7 or 8 years good service out of each I have had. They are great for your desk at work as well.
Customer Review: Easy to use and fast Summary: 5 Stars
This product has been around for over a decade, and for good reason: it works, and works well. My mother bought me one in Fall 1993 when I went off to college and lived in a tiny dorm room. It has served me well ever since. Nearly 12 years later, it still works as well as the day I got it. It really does heat 16 ounces of water to boiling in under 2 minutes. It's insulated so the outside does not get hot. Just remember to only heat water inside of it, not other liquids. It has a nice, clean look and a modern design which I'd even call "cute". The cord stores underneath the base when not in use, for a clutter-free appearance. I'd recommend it to everyone for a wide variety of situations.
