This is the third Hot Shot we've owned over the years, and it shows improvements over previous versions. All have been a reliable source of a cup or more of hot water for tea, Jell-o, or other uses. Quick and convenient, it gets used several times a day in our kitchen. Eventually these wear out, but we have been pleased with the years of service each has provided. I had one while in college (many, many years ago) and it was a necessity of life. I now keep one in my office. I'm trying to ween myself off of coffee and am able to use it to brew tea in the morning. I also use it for instant oatmeal and cup of soup when i don't have time to take a lunch. I went to my son's for Christmas and he had one of these in his kitchen. I used to use the microwave to heat water, this little Hot Shot Water Dispenser provides hot water so much quicker. It's very convenient and does not take up much counter space. He's single and wanted something for single servings, however I use this with a family of four to quickly make tea and oatmeal.Customer Review: This was a gift

I have 2 of the older style Hot Shots and have given 3 as gifts. My daughter moved and the old style hot shot did not match the kitchen, so I ordered her a black one as a housewarming gift and gave the old one to my office mate.
I love mine and so does everyone that I have given them to. They are better than the microwave for making hot tea, coffee, etc.

I love the hotshot, this is my second one. It's very fast, it pours directly into a cup or bowl and the design is really nice. One minor detail that is different from the old one, when dispensing the water it takes a little longer to get the last few drops of water out.I usually pour the water in to boil and by the time I get the tea and cup out, the water is ready.
