Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sunbeam 2371 MixMaster Stand Mixer, White

Customer Review: Love it -- no problems at all!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this Sunbeam mixer several months ago from Amazon.com because I couldn't find this model in any stores. It had all the features I wanted, plus I was looking for glass bowls and they are hard to find (I wanted to be able to use them in the microwave to melt butter for some recipes plus I like being able to see through the bowls--I don't understand the attraction of the metal bowls). The mixer arrived quickly and in great shape. I use this mixer at least 2 or 3 times a week and I've had no problems. My previous Sunbeam mixer was well over 20 years old when it finally died after years of hard use (I used to be a stay at home mom and cooked a lot more at home) and several moves. Fortunately, my old bowls to that mixer, though not as tall, fit this new mixer, so I have backup bowls when I need them, so that was a plus. I especially like the slow start feature on this new mixer as it cuts down on splatters. For my needs, I just can't imagine a better mixer. My old Sunbeam mixer didn't have the dough hooks or the wire whisks, and I like the whisks very much for beating whipped cream--seems like it whips up almost instantly. I have used the dough hooks only once and then went back to my old fashioned method because I just like kneading bread, but they worked fine. I would recommend this mixer to anyone who is a normal (not industrial) cook.

Customer Review: Getting a new one
Summary: 5 Stars

I grew up with a Mixmaster and bought one myself many years ago. It performed flawlessly, although I never used the dough hooks or made cookie dough in it - most cookies are better made with a wooden spoon. It is a great mixer, and I don't feel the need to get a huge expensive Cuisinart for 6 times the price - plus it's harder to store.
My old mixer is still beautiful and looks brand new, but someone did not make sure the beater was all the way in and both beaters got a little bit bent. My husband fixed them, and it seemed just fine - until I used it and it didn't sound right. I think the inside where you insert the inside beater is damaged and just not quite holding it right.
Sie la vie. It has served me for many many years and I'll replace it with another. The whisks might come in handy for egg whites and mousse, although the beaters have worked just fine. I expect it will last as long as my first Mixmaster!

Customer Review: Good so far
Summary: 5 Stars

I had to replace my 20 year-old Sunbeam mixer last month and since I didn't want to spend $200-300+ on the Kitchen Aid I decided to go with what I had already experienced and so far I have been pleased. I chose this model because it came with glass bowls, the whisk attachments, as well as the dough hooks. The large glass bowl is a little heavy to handle when full but I like the glass option in case I want to put it in the microwave. My old bowls also fit in this mixer so sometimes I use those. I have made bread with the dough hooks and they worked pretty well mixing in all the flour as long as I scraped the bowl periodically. I like that the beaters don't have a "stem" going down through the middle; they're easier to clean. The mixer portion of the machine comes off so it's fairly easy to store.

Customer Review: Excellent Mixer w/ attachments and glass bowls
Summary: 5 Stars

This Sunbeam Mixmaster Mixer comes w/ 2 glass bowls, 2 whisks, 2 beaters and 2 dough hooks. It works marvelously and is not loud. My original Mixmaster of 22 years still works, but I broke the large bowl and couldn't find a replacement, so in order to make all my Christmas goodies, I was delighted to find this replacement w/ glass bowls and the whisks to boot! It works great, is as quiet as my original, if not quieter, and the bowls are a little bigger than the originals, which is nice, and also, along w/ my original small bowl, I now have 3 different sized bowls to use! Excellent! Also, you cannot beat the price of $64.95!Sunbeam 2371 Mixmaster Stand Mixer, White

Customer Review: Pretty Neat Mixer
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this Sunbeam mainly because I needed a second heavy-duty mixer (my first is a Kitchen Aide) for my second home. Didn't want to put out a ton of money, so I thought I'd give this one a try. It is really a neat mixer for the money, mixing my favorite fluffy white frosting mix perfectly. The only negative thing I have to say is about the mixing bowls. They are GREAT quality, but too heavy (1/4" glass bowls). I'm a bit older and they are hard to handle, but this has nothing to do with the quality of the mixer. Long story short, it's a GREAT buy for the money, and will stand up to any mixing task.
