Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Deluxe Starfrit Electric Rotato Potato Peeler Express

Customer Review: apple peeler almost worthless
Summary: 2 Stars

We found using this automatic peeler almost worthless. It worked great on about four apples but soon got clogged almost immediately. We spent more time removing peels from the blade than actually peeling the product. I think it might work better on a harder item such as potatoes as our apples were pretty ripe. We have not found a need to peel potatoes so this is just an inkling. We ended up peeling the apples by hand as it was faster.

Customer Review: need new

I bought this peeler for my boyfriends mother I hope hers last longer then mine did I had mine for just over a month and it died. I loved it though I have a hard time peeling potatoes and this gaget was wonderful until it died. Mine was a gift I hope they can replace it.

Customer Review: Get the manual version, not this electric model.
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought one of each. I figured that this one would replace my wonderful old electric model which had lasted more than 10 years (made by Dazey, now out of business)and I'd have the manual as backup.

The electric one makes a mess of apples (the more ripe they are, the worse the mess), it peels off too much apple, it gets stuck in a certain groove and just stays there (peeling away) and, if you try to prod it in any way, it comes unhooked from the bottom and the apple comes off while the machine is still spinning rapidly.

The manual model of the exact same brand is a breeze to use. No effort needed, no strain after 50+ apples, you are in full control of the speed, and it doesn't over peel or get stuck or come unhooked.

I haven't tried either model on any other fruit or vegetable, but based on apples, the manual is great and the electric is a disaster.

I had to give it 1 star (because it's the minimum rating) but, frankly, it doesn't deserve it.

Customer Review: So Disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

I have owned 3 of these potato peelers. The first one had continuous problems and the company sent me a new one. With the new one the blade kept popping off like the last one, but after a while it started working consistantly. After about a year the blade would no longer stay on so I ordered a new one for Thanksgiving since I would be peeling a lot of potatoes. I just could not get this third one to work at all. It was probably the worst one yet. I spent more time trying to fix it and finally had to peel 10 lbs of potatoes by hand. They had a good idea if only the company spent more time on their engineering and quality they might have a good product. I am done unless they can produce a heavy duty peeler that will stand up to real spuds. When there is a demand for a product why can't a company provide quality?

Customer Review: Don't waste your money
Summary: 1 Stars

I had an electric potato peeler( it no longer is being produced) for many years and when it finally stopped working I found this one on Amazon and decided to try it. When it came, I was surprised at the inferior quality of the peeler. It is made of cheap plastic. The first time I attempted to use it, the arm kept flying off and the blade also popped off whenever I placed a potato onto the machine. I had to put this peeler back together every ten seconds, chasing the arm and spring across the room and I finally gave up and peeled the potatoes by hand...This awful peeler is going right into the garbage...What a waste of money...Probably the very worst thing I ever purchased!!
