The reason why I love this meat tenderizer lies in it's weight. It takes much less "elbow grease" on my part to get the job done! The larger surface is part of the beauty, and it is beautiful, but it's the weight. Like a hammer, this tenderizer practically does the job itself. The picture makes this tenderizer look like plastic, but it definitely is not!! It is a heavy duty rubber like substance that makes tenderizing very easy. It is heavy in your hand, allowing gravity to assist with the pounding. It is also very good at flattening meats. You can't get too crazy with a meat tenderizer, but I do find I have a lot of use for both the textured side and the rounded side - pretty nice feature, comfortable grip handle and very affordable.
