Got this starter kit for my birthday and it's simply awesome! So far I have tried the regular root beer and diet coke flavors and tastes delicious with the right amount of carbonation. I have a feeling I will not be disappointed with the rest of the flavors as well.
Pros:
1. Healthier than sodas you will find in the stores.
-Less sodium: regular coke 45mg per 12oz can VS sodastream coke and Diet coke 10mg per 8oz serving
-Less calories: regular coke 140cal per 12oz can VS 35cal per 8oz serving
-Less sugar: regular coke 39gm per 12oz can VS 8gm per 8oz serving
-No Aspartame: most store bought diet sodas use Aspartame vs soda stream uses sucralose commonly known as splenda
-No preservatives.
-No high-fructose corn syrup: regular coke has it and soda stream uses sugar.
-Basically you can drink 4 servings of sodastream(32oz) to equate to one can of store soda(12oz)!
2. Saves space. No more lugging soda cases from store to home and then piling them in my garage and taking up refrigerator space.
3. Fresh. You make each batch right before you drink it. Who knows how long a store bought can has been sitting there.
4. Energy efficient. Unit does not have to be plugged in so you don't have to find another outlet.
5. Tastes great. Better than store bought.
6. Fast. Literally it took less than 5 mins to put components together from box. To make soda all I have to do is fill bottle with water, attach to the units base, push down a button 3x to add carbonation, then add flavored syrup and its done (took less than 1 min to make).
7. Each flavored syrup bottle can be purchased for about $4.99-$10 online and makes about 12 liters(33 cans). Willams Sonoma also sells the syrup at their retail stores.
8. Additional CO2 canisters can be bought online or at Williams Sonoma retail stores for about $20-$30. If you go into a retail store you must ask a clerk to get it for you. They don't leave it out on the shelves. Carbonates about 130 liters of water. It should last awhile since each bottle is 1 liter (130x).
9. You can just make bubbling water and even just make sparkling water by adding fruit flavors. Zero calories!!
10. Environmentally friendly. You just reuse your own bottles. My recycling bin just got lighter...
11. Doesn't take up alot of counter space. Even if it did I wouldn't care at this point.
