I had problems with pantry moth. I had to clear my pantry completely and kept most of the things in my freezer. But then bread would not rice as good because flour was too cold. Or grains would consume freezer smell, even if I put baking soda box inside of the freezer and changed it up frequently. Then I decided to give these canister a try. No moth so far (knocking on the wood). These canisters are light weighted and keep everything tight and secure form air or bugs getting inside. I really don't like glass jars because they weight A LOT - plus add 5 lb of flour inside and you can't lift it with one hand! Grr! These are just perfect - good size and light weighted.
I purchased 3 sets of these containers from amazon (great value). And then I bought a few canisters individually at a local container store. I did not need any more of 64 oz canisters, but needed more of 120 oz and of 32 oz. I love it.
- 120 oz canister holds 5 lb bag of flour
- 32 oz canister holds a 12oz bag of coffee or a 1 lb bag of macaroni pasta, nuts or a smaller bag of flour (like specialty flour - barley, buckwheat, cornmeal, flax seeds)
- 64 oz canisters I use for storing oatmeal, loose teas - 1 lb bag usually fits loosely enough to even leave a scoop inside so you don't have to look for it each time you make tea. And shall I say - those scoops are so handy.
I would recommend this set because it does the job and you can't beat the price. It is so much cheaper to buy a set, then to buy each container individually. They should have bigger sets :)
