Customer Review: Great Little Oven !
Summary: 5 Stars

A 650 watt JEWEL ! Yes, it's a small, low powered unit. For me, that's the charm. Consider, most homes have 200 amps incoming power. My boat has 30. One watt over the limit and fuses blow. When I searched for the lowest wattage microwave, imagine my delight when I found this unit that bakes and toasts as well!

I use the low wattage side of a two burner cooktop to fry bacon and eggs, while using the Sharp Warm and Toasty to bake blueberry muffins and I still having enough power to run the air conditioner and the refrigerator/freezer if only one light is on and the coffee has already been made and is only running the warming plate. Oh. The ship to shore radio can be on too. That's living well!

One thing - I read the manual. That's important with this unit. It's not that complex, but it IS 3 different machines in one and to get the best out of it, one needs to make the right selections.

Also, understand the limitations of 650 watts. My iron is 1000 watts. My iron would blow the fuses on the boat every time and it can't bake great cornbread, like this little oven does. I found a small cast iron skillet with a wooden handle, removed the handle so it would fit in the oven, and the cornbread is as good as from home.

At first I thought toast was slow. But using the toaster grid, it browned nicely on both sides and tastes great. Then I timed my toaster/oven at home... both take 4 minutes.

Never tried popcorn, but I routinely feed guests (2 - 4 people) from my tiny galley and everyone is amazed. Thanksgiving, four of us had baked chicken and cornbread dressing, baked green bean w/ mushroom casserole, fresh squash, cranberry sauce, pear salad and iced tea with Boston Crème Pie for dessert. Never could have done that with a plain-jane microwave and there's NO WAY I'm going to use propane below decks. I love it!

Customer Review: Doc Airstream
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this microwave as it was small and because it doubled as a toaster. We are using it in our small Airstream trailer where real estate is precious. I've run the unit through all settings without any problems. Toast comes out better and more consistent than in our toaster. For reviewers who say that it does not toast well, they are probably not leaving the item in long enough. The convenient rotary dial allows you to easily add more time on startup. My popcorn test came out perfect. I like to use Pop-Secrets Home Style Butter brand. It only took 3 minutes and 15 seconds to pop the entire bag with no burning and no kernels unpopped. Those reviewers that had problems probably did not read the instructions. You must put the popping bag on a pie plate and roll the ends of the bag in so that it can rotate freely. I also have not experienced the sparking problems others have had. I didn't think the instruction manual was that complicated, but then again, I didn't think my programmable remote that controls 150 audio-visual components was that hard to program either......my wife does. Bottom line, this microwave/toaster does everything that it advertises it will do. If you are technology challenged and don't know how to record a program on your VCR, then I suggest you (or your wife) don't buy this microwave. On the other hand, if you want a combination microwave/toaster that looks Sharp (no pun intended) and gets the job done, then this is it.

Customer Review: SOOOO COOL!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the coolest item I have owned in a long time!! I bought it new and have used all the settings, they really work!! The toaster option really toasts, microwave option really microwaves, etc. I can't for the life of me figure out how since the turntable is metal, the inside is chrome, it just goes against everything I know to be true of microwaves, but it does. I don't know how the phone works either but it does. It takes getting used to because it has a cool down fan that runs for a few minutes to cool the unit after use, but once you get used to hearing it "run" after you're done cooking, it's no big deal. Buttons appear intimidating, but if you take the time to read the manual they are clearly explained and easy to use. There's a sticker to put on top for the "automatic functions" like popcorn, toast, brownies, etc. That's really helpful. I highly recommend this item.

It is the same size as a regular microwave and replaces the toaster, toaster oven, even the stove and range. Perfect for college students or studio apartments. I'm a single mother of 2 little kids and it's perfect for cooking the small meals just for us. It does it all and I don't have to clean all those pots and pans anymore or the cook top of the stove.

Buy it, you'll love it!!! I got it on E-Bay for $81 with $24 shipping.

Customer Review: Know what you're buying
Summary: 5 Stars

Read these reviews carefully. The unhappy people are the people who bought this appliance without understanding what it is.

1) It's a small, low-power microwave. Small, low-powered microwaves don't do popcorn very well and some things just don't fit in there.

2) It's a large toaster oven, which means the elements are somewhat removed from the toast. If you want quick toast, get a toaster, where the elements are often less than an inch from the bread. But if you want to toast all sorts of lumpy things, including three or four slices of bread at a time, this'll do it. Typically, mine takes 4 1/2 minutes to toast regular bread.

3) It's a small oven. The oven works well, although again, it's small (see #1). Don't plan on cooking the Thanksgiving turkey in there.

If you understand these things, you'll like this appliance. I sure like mine. It's perfect for a bachelor!

Customer Review: Great multifunction oven
Summary: 5 Stars

This thing toasts and microwaves...and is really small (not significantly larger than the toaster / oven it replaced). I've toasted and microwaved with it and it works. Toast came out perfect and the microwaved food was cooked / hot / etc... It is a bit underpowered as both a toaster and a microwave, but that just means cooking for slightly longer than in a standalone toaster / microwave. The trade off in space savings is worth it to me (by far). The design and colors are nicer than I thought they would be. While not quite a full on stainless steal aesthetic...it pretty much looks as such.

* after using this for several months we purchased a small stand alone double slice toaster. this will toast - but not nearly as good or as fast as a dedicated toaster. we still use it for a microwave and toaster oven (for larger items).
