Love it. Good value, works great, none of the negatives we read in other reviews were a problem.
Customer Review: An OK Microwave Summary: 4 Stars
My perfect microwave would have (1) A numeric pad to enter times; (2) a timer that beeps once and stops; (3) a START button; and (4) a one-minute cook button. All the buttons for meat-thawing and popcorn popping are an annoyance to me.
This microwave cooks fine, and looks better than the models I saw in stores (which were awful). Still, the keypad is cluttered with dozens of options I don't care about. The "Start" button is shared with the one minute button, which is fine, but by the time they put all that labeling in the space, the "Start" button is hard to find on the keypad. My four year old could press "Start" on the old microwave...on this one he can't distinguish it from the other options. The timer button is also the clock setting button, so every time you use the timer, you also have to press "1" to let it know you're not setting the clock. So the most critical functions are on shared buttons, to make room for the "defrost ground beef" option to have dedicated space.
The electronics on this are also unnecessarily cheap. The beep is an annoying, high-pitched squeak. More importantly, the clock LEDs are cheap, so they are unreadable from certain angles. If you are standing in front of the microwave, and are more than five feet tall, the LED display dissolves into a mass of green lines. You have to step back or bend down to see the time display properly. If you are standing where you would normally stand to use the microwave, you can't read the time display. I suspect it would have cost 50 cents to use a higher-quality display.
I bought this to replace a Kenmore Toast-n-wave that had a clean, clear display, larger buttons for more important functions, and a clock I could read from any angle. The Sharp has been a step backward.
Customer Review: Good buy Summary: 4 Stars
Received the product within a few days of ordering, even with SuperSaver Shipping. This microwave is easy to use, has a nice-sized interior, and is powerful enough for the usual popcorn, re-heating leftovers and coffee, etc. It's a great value for the price.
My only complaint, if you can even call it that, is the door isn't as heavy as my last microwave oven, and for some reason, that bothers me. I like the idea of a nice, solid door between me and the microwaves! However, it does not seem to affect the performance of the oven in any way, so I'm sure I'll get used to it in time.
Customer Review: Good Microwave, Lousy Glue Summary: 4 Stars
The microwave works very good, but the first hour out of the box was a disaster. They glue a feature type explanation sheet to the front window that uses glue which is non water soluable. My wife in trying to remove the glue scratched up the plastic window in four spots where the sheet was glued. So now, instead of a nice looking microwave, we have a marred screen that we will have to look at until the unit dies. Otherwise, no complaints.
