Why take up valuable counter space in an RV with a toaster oven or countertop convection oven when this unit will fit in the same space as a microwave and perform the functions of all three.
This unit requires no outside venting and is only 900 watts. It is the perfect choice for RVers looking to replace or upgrade from a standard microwave.
It easily fit into my existing microwave space and the Trim Kit I ordered separately looks great. My install required only the use of the trim and I did not need the aluminum liner.
This is the perfect size for 1-2 people, but cooks for more. Do not let the dimensions of the interior fool you. The turntable/ cooking pan is 12 inches in diameter.
It grills beautifully. It allows the user to select the grill setting for one or both sides of the item being cooked.
The convection oven turns out moist tender meats and terrific baked goods.
I really enjoy the micro/convec combination setting which enables the best of both worlds for speed and browning.

I just purchased this Sharp convection microwave. I am slowly reading the manual and cooking a variety of foods in an attempt to learn the features and maximize my use of this. I cannot begin to explain how WOW'd my husband and I are. I made some Cream of Wheat in it for breakfast. No boil-over like we had with every previous microwave. TV dinners--I love that I can program a series of cooking instructions (like 5 min at 100% power followed by 4 1/2 min at 50% power), and my husband raved at no burnt edges, no dried out areas; it was just evenly and nicely cooked without the usual microwave problems. lol, my husband is sitting behind me and spontaneously said, 'Gosh darn, I sure love that microwave! We can do all kinds of things in it...I can't wait to try a pizza.!'
Why 'with my fingers crossed?' I am leery that what some others report about problems will be not true. I hope I can get 18 - 24 months out of my new microwave, but only time will tell.

My old Sharp Microwave finally died after years of faithful service so I had to get a new one. I decided to get a combined Microwave/convection oven since I had never had a convection oven. My daughter has one that she uses all the time. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. I've always liked Sharp microwaves because I like the rotating turntable. I have only one small problem with this oven. The power is less than in my old one; I have adjusted though and use more time than I did with my older one. I was amazed when I tried the grill feature; so easy, easy to cook and easy to clean up. The Compu features for all of the cooking types make using it extremely easy. I have grilled turkey wings, chicken thighs, cooked frozen veggies plus all of the other types of cooking/heating one does with a microwave. Bottom line: I am very pleased with this product and will recommend it highly. You won't be sorry if you purchase it.Customer Review: Microwave ... Grill .... Oven ???

I have owned this unit for about 3 weeks now.
I would give it high marks on the basic microwave functions...vegetables...reheating leftovers...popcorn. All are what you would expect.
The oven/convection function is handy if you have a couple different things going that need different temps. I used it for green bean casserole while other things occupied the regular oven. Turned out fine. I also did a hamburger hot dish which turned out fabulous.
The unit does up frozen french fries very well.
The main reason I looked to this was the grill feature. Hamburgers were the first try. Very good. Did some steaks. No complaints. Chicken with the skin on excels. Had to cook it a few minutes longer than preset, but crispy and juicy. Very very good. Fish. I tried Salmon steaks. The fish was excellent. Salt, pepper, lemon and some butter. Now here was the drawback...The oven really retained the fish smell. I ended up having to take some vinegar and water and wash it out a couple times to get rid of the odor. This is the first negative I experienced.
I have yet to try a fresh or frozen pizza for the pizza settings. The reheat pizza produced a crisp crust on leftover pizza and was very good.
You get what you pay for. It is versatile and does a good variety of meals well in a tight space. It is a tad flimzy in construction compared to an Amana or Pasansonic microwave, but I would not have any concerns in it lasting 5 years. I think there are better cooking options, but an apartment dweller or someone needing flexibility could not go wrong.

I bought this product on August 3, 2008 from Amazon. The microwave stopped working on 1/31/2010. We chose this Microwave Oven to replace a Sharp Carousel purchased in 1983 - it lasted 25 years! I am very unhappy with the lifespan of the Sharp R-820BW. I rated it 3 Stars as the various functions of this unit met expectations - if it had lasted longer I would rate it 5 stars. KM Boise
