Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sassafras Deep Dish Pizza and Pie BakerCustomer Review: c cooper Summary: 4 Stars
My husband is a bread lover and he bakes his own from scratch. He uses this dish with a high dome cover for several recipes. It works really well for crunchy crusts.
Customer Review: So far so good Summary: 4 Stars
Used it three times and even subjected it to thermal shock by putting it into a 475 degree oven with no preheating. Makes great deep dish.
Customer Review: For the product quality, Id rate high, but for Chicigo pizza, you need cast iron. Summary: 3 Stars
Great product as far as being the best it can be. And mind you still a useful pan, good for pies.
However, my personal opinion is that nothing comes close to an old, thin, seasoned, cast-iron pan. Side by side the crust is far superior. The main problem being that the bottom takes too long to heat up and distribute for a properly golden caramelized crust.
The whole point of brick in my opinion is pre-heating. But Alas, you cannot do that with a chicago pizza unless you have some crazy skills (form soft dough to a 400 degree brick, hehe). Now it makes a great bread warmer for me.
Customer Review: just ok Summary: 3 Stars
I should have read the specs a little closer as it's bigger then I was expecting. From the pictures I was expecting a smaller diameter. I guess it's my dough skills but my pies don't come out much "deeper" then when I use my regular pizza stone with a standard size dough ball. I've also had a couple pies stick to the bottom so have started using a little corn meal on the bottom
Customer Review: Very thin and light. Summary: 3 Stars
I haven't used it yet. But on first look, it's much thinner and lighter than I expected. I'll update later.
