I've owned four different food scales over the years and this one is my favorite. It is easy to use and the display is large. You can change it from grams to ounces without having to reweigh the item. It measures small amounts accurately, something lesser quality scales have a hard time with. The only negative is that the plastic has some raised portions, making it harder to clean if you spill liquids or tomato sauce on it. If you are working with a messy recipe or a child who is learning portion control, you may want to put the scale in a plastic bag.Customer Review: Salter 2001 microtronic... a good buy

This is an easy-to-use, esthetically pleasant little scale at a nice price. It does grams or ounces, zeroes out every time you push the "On/Zero" button (so you can keep adding ingredients to your mixing bowl and weigh as you go). The display is easy to read. My only complaint is that occasionally, the numbers will fluctuate up and down. I use it every day and this happens perhaps once every couple of weeks. Just take the weight off and let it reset, and it's fine. It turns itself off after a short period of inactivity.Customer Review: Everything as advertised

I'm glad I found this product. It is everything that is advertised. My wife is on a strict diet meaning that we have to measure and weigh everythign that goes into her food. Some are in ounces, some in millagrams. This scale does both and it has been a godsend.
the ONLY suggestion I could make to have it be even better is to make the actual platter for the scale washable. I'm afraid to hand wash it because I'm not certain that it will hold up to being imersed in water.
I recommend this scale.

i read all the reviews for all the kitchen scales here on amazon, and ultimately bought this one. am i ever glad. it is as lightweight as i someday hope to be, simple to use, convenient to store (i, too, hang it on the wall next to my food prep area) and, in two words, most elegant. after a little practice, you can begin to estimate the weight of things you regularly consume; for those new or less-often-eaten foods, it's right at hand. this is the scale to get if you're in the market for one.Customer Review: great! very useful product

I am a powerlifter/ bodybuilder and nutrition is equally as important as time spent in the gym to recover from training.
I bought this food scale primarily to weigh meats to know exactly how much protein I was getting out of a particular cut of meat. Whereas I had to eyeball and guess before, know I know exactly.
Of course, as a weight trainer, I am gaining weight, but I am sure someone looking to loose weight can use the scale for portion control, as well.
