I was looking for a compact, economical scale to use around the kitchen. I didn't need anything of professional grade so I decided to try this scale out. I am very pleased with this scale.
Pros: All I can say is that it does its job pretty well. I particularly love how the storage container doubles as the scale bin, making it very easy to store. This scale is made out of plastic, and it looks like it will last quite a while.
Cons: If you like to add ingredients then adjust the scale, it will be quite tedious with this scale since you have to manually turn the adjustment knob many many times...
I would definitely recommend this scale to any amateur cook.

I just needed a simple scale for occasional kitchen measures. As for its accuracy, I really don't know but it seems to be sufficient for my needs. Heck, for $5 I don't need critical accuracy; this one seems close enough. It is a handy unit, not taking up much space and it stores nice and compact in the box it came in. My only negative comment is that the tray is not very big so some things are not easily weighed on it. Many people might find it worthwhile to spend a little bit more to get one that has a larger tray. Nothing fancy, just perfect for what I need it for. I bought it for weighing foods while on my diet, but now I'm using it for accurate measurements on lots of things. It's more accurate to measure by weight than measuring cups. I love this thing. The size is perfect, I can put it away in a cabinet when not in use. It's very light weight. The container is used to store the scale, and it comes with a lid so you can use it for food storage if you wanted.
If you just need something simple to get the job done, I highly recommend it. If you want a fancy gadget, you will be sorely disappointed.

I bought this scale for a friend so he can make pasta. It's perfect for cooking -- he can weigh out flour, and the plastic bowl comes off to dump the food wherever you want. Easy to wash and easy to store (it fits inside itself).
But, if you're going to give it as a gift, be warned it says "diet scale" on the box or something like that. My friend thought I was implying he should go on a diet when he received it in the mail. I had to explain that I meant it for cooking/baking.

I recently started Weight Watchers and was just looking for a little scale that wouldn't take up too much space in my kitchen and that would allow me to measure small amounts of meat and such. While you have to set this scale at 0 kind of often(I have to double check every time I'm going to use it), it does its job. I like that it has a lid because I can measure things in the morning and then save them for lunch or dinner. Overall, I recommend it. And for $5 you really can't go wrong.
