Two of these were sent to my mother, and to the disappointment of both of us, and embarrassment on my part, it was the worst purchase made from Amazon. She complained that the trivet formed permanent bubbles upon contact with a hot pot, as well as, burn marks. Little did I know that "melamine" was another word for "plastic." The description should make it very clear to the customers that these should be for decorative purposes only.
