At a total of 5-1/2 inches tall, including the base, this is small enough to be inconspicuous on the counter. It's so small it's cute. Other cutters I looked at are just too big or decorative for my taste.
And, twine is so much better than cooking string! But I was always misplacing the twine.
The base isn't held on very well (four little sharp blades) and came off in shipping, but that's okay. I gave it a shot of wood glue and banged it back on. It'll keep on holding fine since the wood is unfinished. If I'd wanted to paint it for any reason, it would actually be easier to do without the spike part attached.
I did wipe it with mineral oil, like I do all my woodenware, so it won't stain.
The cutter works well.
I'm very pleased with this little workhorse.
