Ever try to open those plastic sealed packages that cell phones and batteries and such come in? You have to take a scissors and cut through the hard plastic, cut through the instructions and sometimes even cut through the product itself. Unless you have OPENX. This tool, which I picked up at Office Depot, has two small blades that easily pierce the packaging and slide through the plastic until your product just comes out unharmed. It's so clever and easy, I can't believe someone hadn't thought of this years ago. It's also great for cutting through packing tape on any package that comes in the mail... even Amazon boxes!
I have two: one for my toolbox, the other for the junk drawer in my kitchen... and I use one or the other every day.

I bought my first OpenX several years ago after reading about it on a website. I bought one and used it all the time for opening those annoying plastic packages that seem indestructible. It works great.
Since then, I've moved and my OpenX was essential for opening tons of boxes. I was recently married and the OpenX was used almost daily for gifts and packages that would arrive.
It's simple to use and effective. I bought 2 more to replace my aging first one (which lasted several years). It's great on plastic packages and for cardboard boxes too. I buy so much stuff on Amazon that this is essential.
Highly recommended.

You know the feeling-- you're trying to open the plastic wrap surrounding a case of water bottles, or a taped UPS pkg, or a Costco economy pack of toothbrushes encased in that heavy plastic-- and you're not sure how to open it-- teeth? car keys? knife? scissors? garden clippers? screwdriver? Try the OpenX-- I did, and now I have one in my kitchen, one in my garage, and one in my upstairs office. It is ingeniuously well crafted and it effortlessly (and safely) opens just about anything!! This is just one of those small and simple products that makes life easier.
Personally I wish packaging would change and we wouldn't have to resort to this sort of tool.
BUT, as that's not going to happen, this is the solution. I have about a half a dozen of these things all over the house and office and I've been using them for years now.
I use them all the time. I open blister packs in seconds without cutting myself and with so much less frustration. I also open normally taped packages using the tiny blade which come out when pushing on the button.

Wow, the OpenX arrived two days after I ordered it. Why hasn't someone thought of this before? I tried it on some ink jet packages and it opened them like butter. You just puncture the plastic with a retractable blade and then slide the letter opener-type blade through the plastic. It also is a much better utility knife than the standard kind. The retractable blade is very ergonomic for opening cartons and the OpenX fits like it's an extension of your hand. I'm a little embarrassed to say that it's so much fun, I find myself going around the house looking for things to open. I highly recommend this product.
