Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 8-Quart Oval Pasta Pot with Glass Lid, OrangeCustomer Review: Great Pasta Pot - Great Customer Support Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great pasta pot. The first time I used it, I kept an eye on how it heated the water for pasta, and it heated quite evenly, at least according to the water bubbles on the bottom of the pot. It's great not to have to break spaghetti in half! I think it will be great for cooking lasagna noodles also. The non-stick coating is a bit fussy, no high heat, no metal utensils, etc., but the pot is supposed to be dishwasher safe. I do hand wash it, though. It cleans up very easily. The hard anodized finish is a bit fussy as well, but this is my first piece -- I have mostly stainless steel that takes plenty of abuse -- LOL. I think this will be a good soup or stew pot, and it easily will hold 2 small chickens. I did want to let everyone know that the instructions that come with the pot say that it's oven safe to 350 degrees, but the TV presentation I saw said 400 degrees. I called customer support and they said 400 degrees, so I was glad to hear that. Anyway, this is a very nice pan that's great to have for both cooking pasta and large batches of soup, stew or pasta sauce.
Customer Review: The best pasta pot ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this pasta pot for about two months now, and I love it! I've found it to be very versatile and have used it for other things like stove-top braising (although I have to admit it was an accident because I grabbed this instead of the Rachael Ray Saute Pan that I bought at the same time). At one point I thought that maybe I didn't need to buy the saute pan, but I'm glad I did so I can make something else while boiling the pasta.
This pasta pot is better than others I've had because it is shorter, which is a big deal to someone like me who is only 5' 3". It's also nice that spaghetti will all fit in the water at once, rather than squishing it in or breaking the noodles. I also love the little built-in spout to pour out the water, although it does take a bit of time to drain. Small price to pay. I love being able to keep the pasta in the pot to keep warm, or to toss in a sauce. This was a great investment for me!
Customer Review: Extremely Happy with this Pot Summary: 5 Stars
Have enjoyed using this pot for about 6 months now. When I first got it I was surprised by how light it felt compared to other hard anodized pots I've used. This made me a little skeptical but it has certainly worked out well.
It is light weight, easy to clean, love the glass/see through cover. It fits well on my stove and heats well - I have a flat top electric, no problem.
The one thing I notice is that I guess due to the oval shape which works so well for space I really need to stir items a bit more, particularly pasta because the outer edges don't seem to get the same amount of heat as the center. I don't see it as a problem it's just something to be aware of when using on a smaller electric burner.
I would certainly buy it again.
Customer Review: I love this pot ! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this pot! I tell my husband that every time I cook something in it for him. It fits well on its burner when using another large pot on an adjacent burner. Its non-stick properties are excellent- it washes beautifully. I am not really a big fan of the color orange, so I would have liked it to come with plain black handles instead of the bright orange color. These rubberized handles, however, stay cool to the touch, so it is easy to handle. The weight of the pot is good- not too heavy to be difficult to lift when full, but not too light to feel flimsy or allow food to burn. It is a great pot for every day if you don't want to have to own too many pots, since you can cook pasta, soups, roasts, and stir frys in it. I may buy more to give as gifts to my son and daughter.
Customer Review: As advertised and more Summary: 5 Stars
I had read several reviews on Amazon about this item and had seen the pot in several stores on display before making the purchase. I and my husband both love to cook and we both are very pleased with the Rachel Ray 8 quart Oval Pasta Pot. We find it fits our middle long burner of our stove and the water heats rapidly. Several soups and stews cooked evenly and there were no hot spots on the pot when we lowered the heat to simmer.
A few of the negative reviews stated that the pot was not "heavy enough." Although it may not be the enameled cast iron of a cassoulet pot, for the beginning or average cook the weight of the pot is ideal.
My husband and I both agree we would purchase it again or as a gift for someone.
